That was really lovely and featured a believable progression for the characters.

I found it interesting how the angst in the relationship wasn't cutting with sharp knives -- as I find is often the case for these two in fic -- but felt rather like that kind of constant tapping that chips away at a foundation. I also thought it refreshing that a third party wasn't the cause of or a potential escape from Puck and Rachel's problems.

I liked the way you structured the story, intercutting between past and present and working backwards through what brought them to this point.

Puck's pick up lines made me laugh, as did the note of Rachel's disgust over the 'drawer full of garbage.'

I loved how you showed how much Puck cared in the small gestures, the holding of his breath before opening the door, for example, the playing with Rachel's hair and the stopping to gauge her reaction before putting on the moves. I liked the way Rachel tried to reassure him when she saw his concern. Due to these things, the ending, to me, actually felt more than merely hopeful. Between Puck's determination and Rachel's response, I genuinely believe that these two will find their way back to happiness.

Beautifully done! Thank you very much for so generously filling my request.

I am so relieved that you like this. I am still very sorry I didn't send the draft to you first, because it's the kind of subject matter that could go either way - I struggled to be as sensitive with it as possible.

I really am better with the lame pickup lines than with angst, I think. :)
