Summary-After Addison gets a call from a heartbroken Callie. Addison decides to make an extended trip to Seattle and help her friend pick up the pieces.
“What’s with the smile Torres?”
Callie looked at Mark who was looking at her in questioning way. Callie shrugged her shoulders
“It’s just a beautiful day you know.” Callie turned back to her chart with the smile still plastered across her face.
“Mmhmm” Mark mumbles still skeptical.
That’s when Callie hears the laugh that makes her look around frantically for the woman it’s coming from. When she sees Addison her smile grows. In turn as Addison get closer her face lights up at the sight of Callie. They watch each other as Addison walks past Callie without a word but never taking her eyes off her.
Mark watches the entire exchange and shakes his head in amusement. Callie has worked her magic on Addison. When Addison is out of sight Mark nudges Callie’s arm. Callie looks at him and the smirk on his face.
“What?” Callie asks innocently.
“Oh come on you can’t hide it from me. You and Addison are knocking boots. I must admit that is…..”
Callie turns and hits him on the arm
“OW!”
“Don’t you dare finish that sentence Mark!”
“What I was going to say that was sweet.”
“Yeah and I’m a monkey’s uncle.”
“Are you?” Mark asked still rubbing his arm
“Shut up” Callie replied with a roll of her eyes.
“Don’t tell anyone okay. We are not ready for that.”
“Don’t worry Torres I got your back you don’t have to worry.”
Callie closed her chart and turned towards Mark.
“Thanks…and I’m sorry about your arm.”
Mark looked at Callie with a smug smile and shrugged his shoulders.
“It’s okay you hit like a girl anyway.” Mark laughed as he dodged around Callie and made his way down the hall. Callie shook her head. Mark could be infuriating sometimes but she couldn’t deny he was a good friend.
Callie sighed in relief when she finally climbed into the passenger side of the car.
“Long day?” Callie turned her head and smiled.
“Yeah but its better now.” Addison smiled to as Callie moved in for a kiss before Addison drove away from the hospital. As Addison drove Callie become more nervous. She knew she needed to tell her that Mark knew about them but she was afraid of how Addison would react. Her relationship with Erica briefly floated through her mind. Out of all her failed relationships that one probably hurt the most because there were no goodbyes or an explanation it just abruptly ended and that was it. For Callie not being able to say goodbye was hard because not only was she losing her girlfriend but more importantly she was losing her friend. The fear that something small could ruin everything she had with Addison was a constant worry. So it was with a hope and a prayer that she spoke the next sentence.
“Addison I have to tell you something.”
On the inside Addison could feel her heart drop as panic and fear flooded her. Surely nothing good could come out of a sentence like that. More Calmly then she felt she responded.
“Okay tell me.”
“Mark knows about us.” Callie bit her lip and waited for the reaction.
Addison let out the breath she was holding as her heart jumped back into her chest.
“Baby that’s fine but don’t scare me like that.”
She pulled into the parking lot of the Archer field and finally had the chance to look at Callie. That’s when she noticed the tears in Callie’s eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Addison brought Callie into her arms.
“I was so sure that you were going to be upset. “
“But cal I’m not.”
“I know” Callie sniffled “But every time something makes me happy something else happens that ruins it. First it was Izzie Stevens then it was Izzie Stevens and my stupidity and then with Arizona I think I tried so hard to make that work that I ended up ruining it.” Callie pulled away and looked Addison in the eyes.
“I guess I am just afraid that I am going to lose you over something that doesn’t make sense to me.”
“Hey. You don’t have to worry about that with me I am here to stay.”
“I really hope so because losing you would….” Callie trailed off as fresh tears streamed down her face.
“Cal you don’t have to worry about that with me. I promise you that.”
Callie brought her hand to their eye level and stuck out her pinky.
“Pinky swear?” Callie smiled through her tears. Addison smiled and hooked her pinky into Callie’s.
“Pinky swear.” Their pinkies still locked together Addison pulled Callie forward and kisses her with everything in her. Just in case there was any doubt left.
