Name: Morino Ibiko

Age: 30

Birthday: March 20

Affiliation: Konohagakure no Sato

Rank: Tokubetsu Jounin; Head of ANBU Torture & Interrogation and (for the moment) Intelligence

Registration Number: 010913

Blood Type: A

Height: 5’7”

Weight: 120 lbs

Sexual Orientation: None straight

Hair: jet-black and straight, reaching mid-back; usually stuffed under a bandana-esque hitae-ite, or worn in a low braid.

Eyes: small, dark, and piercing

Skin: relatively tanned and course due to years of harsh treatment

Features: she could be described as somewhat ‘burly’ (for a woman, anyway); she’s got a hard, angular face, only adding to the edge in her glares and generally gives off a vibe that when speaking with her, you realize the only thing keeping her from killing you right then and there likely is a higher officer’s command (and even then, you’re wary).

Other Physical Traits: Ibiko sports multiple proof of years of being tortured: various scars litter body, the most obvious being the two diagonal ones across her face; burn marks along her arms and hands; puncture wounds from screws mark her feet and legs; and long slashes all across her back from whips and chains. Other scars include one from a kunai just beneath her breasts along her ribcage, and a puncture wound from a fuuma shuriken on her left shoulder blade.

Identifying Marks: the two scars across her face; the one on her right cheek she’d gotten in her earlier years as a chuunin from an enemy-nin when she overestimated her skills, and had to be (embarrassingly enough) rescued by her team leader; the one that trails from her left cheek through her lips to her chin she’d gotten when she was 23, from another stupid mistake, but at least that time she killed him herself.

Physical Fitness: still somewhat petite-looking (much to her chagrin), what she lacks in width and height she makes up for in strength, with years and years of training adding more than enough power in her hits. Though compact and lithe, Ibiko has a bit more muscle than most of the other women in Konoha; years of extensive training under her specific field has left her almost purely muscle. Anything resembling a soft, willowy figure has carefully been worked away into compact power and brawn. Not to say she looks any less female; though she pays no particular attention to appearances (can’t really afford to, frankly), she is still somewhat human, and somewhat female, which leaves her with a carefully hidden, carefully ignored pride in her curves.

Usual Clothing: almost always in the standard jounin attire, though she’s been apt to switch to heavy combat boots instead of the regular nin-sandals. A black leather trench coat/cloak is usually worn over the uniform, used both to signify her authority and for its psychological purposes (come on- who wouldn’t be intimidated?). Black gloves are also worn, and the soul purpose of which is purely superficial- she likes to hide whatever scars she can, because the unease it seems to give people is just plain annoying.

Fighting Style: before she worked under T&I, Ibiko was a firm believer in brawn over brain. Taijutsu was her main concentration when she was growing up, working hard to build up her strength. As time went on, she began to see the advantages in genjutsu and focused some of her attention on that as well.

When she’s interrogating or torturing, Ibiko prefers to let her mind do the damage instead. She has complete knowledge of human psychology, attacking mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Something of a sadist, Ibiko hardly needs to try to inflict her damage, having broken many men without ever having to resort to means of physical torture.

Preferred Weapons: her BRAIN! Ibiko likes to keep things as ‘natural’ as possible, and prefers good old fashioned fists to anything else. But if push comes to shove though, she’s quite trained with the katana.

Special Jutsu: Keshite (to erase/disappear)- technique used to erase a person’s memories. It’s a very delicate procedure that requires great knowledge of the human psyche and anatomy of the brain. It works by touching a concentrated amount of chakra to the brain’s hippocampus (the area of the brain that’s key to forming and maintaining memory), manipulating the synapses there to eliminate the memory.

Ibiko was 20 when she attempted this technique, after having witnessed her senior officer, Nakamura Kado, perform something similar (it was an actual medical procedure, using the chakra-scalpels and a very open head), but it was not until she was 22 that the technique was actually perfected. She experimented mainly on field rats.

Due to the technique’s somewhat unethical properties, Ibiko was faced with possible termination from T&I and deranking not long after her first human trials. Fortunately for her, her current commanding officer intervened and bargained with the council enough to give her pardon. She was under probation for a total number of seven weeks, before the Sandaime stepped in and gave her her own personal pardon. (It probably helped that, not long before that, she’d just survived two weeks of being captured and tortured for information by Kumogakure.)

The technique did not see the light of day again till three years later, when she became Head of T&I. Though it didn’t lose any of its controversy, she was allowed to use it, but only under strict circumstances.

Ibiko’s attitude towards this is a toss-up. On the one hand, she felt it was a bit of a crime to repress such a beautiful technique, but on the other, she figured Damn straight this thing is that badass.

Other: Head of ANBU Torture & Interrogation and (for the moment) Intelligence for over five years now-the longest to hold the office in the history of the Department-and has no future plans of retiring.

Family: orphaned at the age of seven due to a mission that’d gone horribly wrong, Ibiko’d been living back and forth between the orphanage and numerous foster homes till the age of 16. She remembers every single one of her foster parents.

Friends: an introvert by nature, Ibiko never really bothered enough to make friends. She has the professional acquaintance or two, but nothing more beyond that.

Aki, on the other hand, is what she likes to call a ‘special case’. For reasons so obvious, even she doesn’t know.

Lover: at the beginning of her ANBU/T&I career Ibiko fell in love with her commanding officer and cell leader, Nakamura Kado. He was ten years older than her and the first warm presence in her life after her genin cell. He was nurturing, understanding, and mature, and as time went on, Ibiko grew so devoted, believing he felt the same for her, that she was more than willing to die and kill for him if the situation called for it.

Unfortunately for her, that was his plan all along.

It was during a mission to Amegakure that it was revealed he’d been working with them, planning to trade information for money and refuge in the other village. He later revealed to her that he planned to double-cross the Ame-nin as well, keep the money, and run away with her. Ibiko suffered only mild hesitation before she eliminated both the enemy and her senpai.

She doesn’t believe in love anymore.

Followers: Yamanaka Inosuke, whether he likes to admit it or not! one of the benefits of remaining under ANBU, she found, is that she never has to lead a team of genin. A fact in which everyone is thankful for.

Enemies: though she’s certainly not the friendliest person in the village, Ibiko only really considers her enemies to be those of Konohagakure, both enemy-nin and traitors. Oh, and Dai. Let’s not forget Dai.

Personality Traits: cold, blunt, and mostly uncaring, Ibiko only bothers with emotions when an interrogation calls for it. She doesn’t care to bother with the affairs of others, unless it directly affects her, and even then she is none too happy about it. She doesn’t particularly care for what others think of her either; she knows she’s a cold-hearted bitch and always sometimes even capitalizes on that. She’s very respectful, however, and deathly loyal to Konoha (ah dur). Being a master interrogator/torturer, Ibiko (almost always) has complete control of her emotions, as well as the full capacity to manipulate them as she sees fit. Only two people have ever seen Ibiko truly cry, and one is dead, and the other is under strict threat of a slow and painful castration to never ever tell.

Quirks: Ibiko personally thinks she has none, as quirks are wimpy, and bothersome, and not her, but anyone who cares to pay enough attention for a while can see she has a very bad habit of chewing the end of her braid whenever she’s in deep thought; she’s also something of a neat freak (read: perfectionist) at the office, though her apartment’s a complete and utter mess.

Loves: again, not her, but she won’t deny a slight fondness for takoyaki; she also loves her job, but that really shouldn’t need to be stated.

Hates: her number one would have to be traitors to the village, which is just a few points ahead of enemy-nin. Oh, and whistling. She can’t stand whistling.

Fears: getting attached- essentially, nothing she’d ever admit, even to herself.

Dreams/Ambitions: already Head of T&I and Intel, Ibiko hopes to complete the climb to the top and become Head of all three divisions of Konoha’s Defense (T&I, ANBU, and Intel).

Hero: she has no real hero, but she admired the Sandaime a great deal, and bears a lot of respect for the current Hokage, Tsurude.

Gifts/Talents: quite possibly the best damned interrogator/torturer this side of Fire Country; bears a complete knowledge of human psychology and psyche, as well as adequate knowledge of the human anatomy; able to recall-and, at the same time, repress-past experiences with excruciating detail; she can also roll her tongue.

Religion: seeing what she’s seen, doing what she does, Ibiko’s long since fallen out of touch with the idea of a higher being. She lives according to the code of her loyalty and personal ethics, which works to make it both easier and harder for her. Sometimes, she finds it helps not to think about it at all.

Flaws: she can be blunt to the point of being just plain mean. She doesn’t hesitate in giving her full appraisal of something, yet at the same time doesn’t say enough when the situation calls for it. She’s always critical of what she says out loud, and sometimes reads too much into what others say. And, above all else, she cares too much when she shouldn’t, and doesn’t care enough when she should.

Personal History: Ibiko lost both parents when she was seven years old, after both failed to return from a routine escort mission. They were both suspected of running, something other shinobi had no problem at all with saying around her, but all searches failed to turn up any evidence to prove or deny the allegation.

So between the ages of seven and fifteen, Ibiko had been juggled between orphanage and foster home. She had a total number of eight homes (eight mothers and seven dads), and Ibiko remembers every single one of them. Something of a problem child, Ibiko never bothered to get attached to or even make an attempt with either of her foster parents. It had just become something of a routine to her, going so far as to make a bet with herself how long the next one would last.

When she turned sixteen she moved out of the orphan home and rented an apartment towards the end of town, and since then had been fending for herself. Though, if one were to ask her, she’d tell them she’d been doing that since she was seven.

She was ten when she graduated from the Academy and became a genin. Her cell team consisted of a loud-mouthed boy and a mouse of a girl. They, along with their sensei, were on a mission along the outskirts of Iwagakure when they were captured and tortured for a duration of nine days. Ibiko had been the only one alive by the time ANBU found them. She was also, as she found out later, the only one not to talk.

At fifteen she passed the chuunin exam (with two other girls who’d also entered without teammates), and at eighteen she signed up with ANBU, and at nineteen she moved under T&I. She was 20 when she fell in love and 23 when she killed him. At age 25, she became the youngest to rise to the rank of Head of Torture and Interrogation. Five years later she became the temporary Head of Intelligence as well.

During her first year at T&I (age 19), Ibiko was assigned to watch one, Mitarashi Aki. Suspected of potential treason due to his close acquaintance with Orochimayu (and his overall dangerously-spontaneous behavior), he was put under close observation. In order to kill two birds with one stone, Ibiko discreetly had him pulled into T&I with her, where she would watch-and, as time went on, watch over-him for the following three years.

Officially, that is.
