Poem "So It Is Easter"

And so it's Easter
And what have I done?
I've gone to the Church now
For praise and hymn songs.
I've counted my blessings
and prayed for my soul
I've paid penance for my sins
and I've bowed my head low.

I've sung from the hymnal
and prayed with the crowd
I've sung praise with the Deacons
and played with the orchestra loud

Dedication has come at last
and I kneel at the alter
My pastor sprinkles me
with blessings and water
Lord Jesus has risen
Just as he said
He is counted as living
and not as one dead

So it is Easter
and what have I done?
I've gone to the Church now
For forgiveness of sin
I'm beaten and broken
but I know I shall win.
