i went to san diego this weekend.

Oct 20, 2009 11:14

the hairdresser's mom threw a bbq for everyone's october birthday -- which is literally everyone they know, including the hairdresser.

took off on saturday night, as planned. were in the air an hour, basically about to land in san diego, when the captain came on the air to tell us that san diego airport has been closed due to fog and they're turning us around BACK to san francisco.

what? san diego doesn't have weather!

usually they fly you to a nearby airport -- LAX, john wayne, whatevs -- but everyone was doing that, the air was too crowded, and they thought it was best to send us back to san francisco. :(

so blah blah "should we rent a car" blah blah "we can fly out of oakland" blah blah. long story short, they added two flights on sunday morning, so we could fly out of sfo and get to san diego in plenty of time for the party.

sunday morning rolls around, called southwest to find out that our 7:30 flight was CANCELED, but we should go to the airport as planned. at the airport they booked us on the earlier flight, which was actually leaving at 7. they told us not to get our hopes up, san diego was still fogged in. but, alas, we made it. and it was the best time ever.

i won the pumpkin-carving contest. i carved a cheeseburger.

nom nom nom.

we hung out on sunday night in the hillcrest area, which is like, castro. went to sushi, went to a bar. hung out with all her friends. had the best time.

sunday we woke up, went to the beach, walked on the pier, saw dolphins! and threw it out there that maybe we could stay an extra day. but didn't really look into doing it (i.e. getting someone to cover her shift). so we went to lunch with her mom and got the most amazing garlic shrimp burritos in the world. then got a popsicle from this place that makes them in-house! so good. cantaloupe!

gimme.

all i did this weekend was eat.

so then it was time to leave, and we decided that since we got gypped saturday night, we'd like to try to stay another day. we call southwest and not only did it not cost anything to switch, but the flight on tuesday was cheaper, so they were going to give us $10 back! then we got an e-mail from southwest, saying that they were so sorry we were inconvenienced saturday night, even though it was no fault of their own, that they were giving us a $75 voucher!

last night we ate some more. watched the chargers game. played yahtzee (i've never played before... and guess what! i won!) and i have a new boyfriend.

his name is cassanova.
basically the best weekend ever. going back there in november for thanksgiving and i'm going to use my $75 voucher to get me there!
