social networks are the root cause for making the world small.

the world being small seems to be a theme today.

my friend vanessa commented on some guy's engagement photos, which i was able to see because it showed up on my news feed.

so i clicked and looked and they were fancy. then i went to the guy's page, and i saw that we had not one mutual friend (vanessa) but two mutual friends (meghan). and vanessa and i know each other from a completely different time and place than meghan and i know each other. and they're both connected by some random guy named thomas kyle, whom i've never heard of till today.

earlier my friend kateyln commented on a facebook status of mine. and then my elementary-school-through-high-school friend mike commented: "outside of one exception for a brief moment, none of my friends from elementary, middle, or high school ever overlapped with people i knew from hebrew school. and yet two of you manage to know each other anyway. hi katelyn!"

the thing is, katelyn and i being friends isn't so weird: we grew up in the same county, went on our israel confirmation trip together, DATED EACH OTHER like eight years later after randomly re-meeting at a random bar (ok, that part is weird).

but meghan and vanessa being friends with the same person is just blowing my mind right now for some reason.

and i never would've known that if it wasn't for facebook. like, facebook told me so.

i just went to my profile to look at my wall to see what it was that mike had written, and my wall was blank. then i refreshed and everything came back. so facebook is actually a piece of shit, but really neat all the same.

friends, facebook, weird
