The figure on the 20 pound note is being changed from Edward Elgar to Adam Smith.

I am outraged on behalf of the British people. Who's with me?

Adam Smith? What, like "Wealth of Nations" Adam Smith? If I wanted to be paranoid I could say that signified a societal shift away from the arts to a more competitive capitalism, at the expense of culture... plus Elgar is just cooler.

That's annoying. But then, I don't pay much attention to my money anyway.

Yes, that Adam Smith. Although to be fair, I'm pretty sure society has been focused on capitalism for longer than bears thinking about, so I'm not sure there has really been any shift there.
