Remember Spot Jonathan Firth? (Not to be confused with Spot Mr. Bingley).
Jonathan Firth has been spotted at the Pompeii exhibit at the Museum of Civilization.
CACKLE. Or more accurately, in the exhibit.

Pompeii was very interesting, although it was badly constructed in terms of bottle-necks for crowds. And a thousand Montessori kids. Which was hilarious because they were all wearing red turtlenecks and were about knee high. But it made it difficult to be a grave museum viewer.
In any case, I am always fascinated by this sort of thing, so I'm glad I went. Reflections on impermanence and the triviality of existence, etc. Or something. Oh, and skeletons. Yeah. Anyone an expert in Roman symbols? What's the deal with the parrot-with-cymbals-in-mouth motif? Maybe I'll look it up.
Everything was locked down for the Chinese delegation or something, which was sort of surreal. I don't know when they were showing up, but there were protesters at the ready and hundreds of cops standing by, and all that. Important looking people shifting around nervously talking on cellphones, etc.
And got my hums books, minus Cicero. They ran out. How dare they run out of Cicero? ;) Whatever, they'll get more. That store is so awesome. I am already a fan.
Annnnd my brother is trying to learn to play the english horn upstairs using an early saxophone method book of mine. Some interesting sounds happening there. Bah, he'll master it in no time. :P
