[how peaceful the Crucible's visit to this planet has been! no hostile natives, plenty of food and water, wide open spaces, a lovely beachfront view, and no captain to torment his unwilling passengers! what a stroke of luck, no?

to add to the lovely vacation, early in the morning the thunderous clouds finally part, revealing a beautiful green-tinged sky and a very Earth-like sun. most of the frog animals scurry to cover; it seems their sensitive skin is not often exposed to direct sunlight. must mean there's usually cloud cover on this strange, strange planet! the flowers, however, seem to enjoy it immensely, blossoming beneath the warm rays. if you look closely - and have excellent vision - you might just spot a great cloud of lime-hued pollen rising into the air.

the smell is lovely, like the most delicate mixture of dandelions and strawberries, permeating everything: the forest, the field, the beach, and even the ship itself, seeping down through the cracks and breaks in the hull]

Details
Daylight at last! The threat of rain and bad weather is now gone, leaving passengers open to do what I'm sure some of them have wanted to do since the crash: enjoy a good time on the beach! There aren't many animals around to bother them, it's a balmy eighty-five degrees Fahrenheit with no humidity, sunny with a slight breeze, and the fish are biting like crazy in the lake. A thus far unseen animal is showing it's head now...butterflies! Swallow-tailed, ranging from as big as a thumbnail to as big as a hand, and coming in all range of glass-like colors, they've appeared apparently out of nowhere to cover the majority of the field and forest. They'll be pretty much fearless if approached by characters, apparently unconcerned with the threat of predators, open water, overexposure, or each other.

The butterflies are, in fact, a clue as to what has happened. The pollen that the flowers has released has an...interesting affect on other creatures. Like it has done to the butterflies, the pollen will cause characters to lose their natural inhibitions. How this happens, exactly, is up to you! A few suggestions: is your character naturally cautious and secretive? They might just loosen up considerably! Does your character always watch their weight and consume only healthy foods, even if they like sweets? They might just binge on whatever pastries are left to be found on the ship! Is your character harboring secret anger towards another but keeps it locked up? They could possibly march right up to confront that person! These are just a few of the considerable possibilities, so interpret "inhibitions" however you wish!

How severely are characters affected? Well, that depends on what they did prior to this announcement. There are several "levels" to exactly how inhibitions-less a character is going to be, which are as follows:

1 -- Your character never left the ship and never consumed or drank anything from the planet. The effect the pollen will have is minimal; it'll show itself in subtle ways, like slight alterations in personality and small actions they normally wouldn't do. Characters will know they're doing it and can try to suppress it.

2 -- Your character left the ship but didn't consume or drink anything from the planet, didn't cross the field of flowers, and didn't enter the forest. The effect will still be low, but more frequent; actions they wouldn't normally do occur more often, emotions are loosened, things are said they wouldn't have said before. Characters will know they're doing it and can try to suppress it, but will less successful.

3 -- Your character left the ship and ate or drank something from the planet, but didn't cross the field or enter the forest. The effect is moderate and constant; the things are noticeably something they wouldn't normally do or say and some of it might occur without their consent. Characters will know they're doing it and can try to suppress it, but will fail more often than they succeed in doing so.

4 -- Your character left the ship, ate or drank something, and crossed the field, but did not enter the forest. The effect is high and constant; very unusual actions are possible, including some things that they usually keep buried or are unaware exist in their psyche. Characters won't know that they're doing it at least half of the time; during those times it'll seem, to them, that what they're doing is perfectly normal. In those times when they're aware that it's not normal, they can attempt to suppress it but will be primarily unsuccessful.

5 -- Your character left the ship, ate or drank something, crossed the field, and entered the forest (a note: unless your character teleported there, you had to have crossed the field to get to the forest AND the lake!). The effect is exceptionally high; every hidden want and opinion is going to come to the surface. Characters won't know what they're doing for the duration of this plot and will act as though what they're doing and saying is how they always act. Being unaware that what's happening to them is usual, they won't be in any position to suppress it, but if another character were to inform them of this, attempts to stop their actions would fail nearly every time.

Something to be aware of: while performing the actions required in each level will count for that level, performing the next highest even without doing the lower ones still raises you to that level. In less confusing but longer terms: if your character left the ship and did not eat the local food, but they went to the field or the forest, that still puts them in level four or five, respectively. So they leave and go visit the forest only? That's still level five!

Again, exactly which inhibitions and how you interpret inhibitions remains up to you, though I will stipulate that if the inhibition involves another player's character, you must contact and receive that player's permission prior to posting or threading. Any inhibitions that involve damaging the ship, the geography, space-time, a large portion of the animal population, or themselves, please contact me first for approval. If I'm not available on AIM, please send an email to the mod mail at cptganymede@gmail.com. Otherwise, the same rules as were in the previous plot post remain: no going beyond the coastline or deep into the forest, which is still home to highly poisonous gas!

For just accepted characters who are seeing this via their acceptance comment, they will be in the first level of effect; it's not what you do now, but what you did beforehand that determines what happens to your character in this plot! :) It's exposure over time, not abruptly. If you're new and didn't get to read the previous plot post on the current state of the ship, it can be found here.

A few official business things I'd like to point out are the following: I'm noticing that players aren't putting their application or a link to their application information in their profile. There's a reason we write these long things, folks! :3 That information is to help other players get to know characters from a fandom they're unfamiliar with, so please copypasta or link! There have been quite a few newbies and drops, so I'd suggest going to the Friends Add/Drop to update your flists. Lastly, the official non-official RP chat is cruciblelounge; entirely optional and usually off-topic, it's just a chance to interact with other players. Drop by if you'd like!

If you have any questions concerning the plot or any of the above information, please ask them here! Due to being sick (yay), I might not be able to get to questions in a speedy manner, so I humbly ask for your patience; if I'm forced to stay in bed by concerned mother figures, I will appoint someone to take care of surface duties in the RP while I'm away, so no worries!
