[in a change from the last couple of weeks, when the intercom snaps on right at midnight, the feed is perfectly clear. rather than the narrow picture the passengers are usually restricted to, they are provided a wide vista of what is obviously the bridge.
the sleek, swept-back consoles and stations are in a sate of dedicated decay, panels ripped or blasted out and charred wires exposed. it's a wonder the main viewscreen is working at all.
how lucky for the passengers that it is. if not, they would not be able to see the dark, massive maw of a
black hole taking up the majority of the screen.
what does the captain have to say about this? not much. he's slumped forward in his chair, bent double at the waist, a knife sticking out of his back.
in front of him, on what seems to be the last functioning console, a readout slowly ticks down the time:]
Details
This is the end, everyone. For better or for worse, the captain is no longer available to bargain with or threaten. In fact, he may not have been available for a long, long time. Should any passengers inspect the corpse slumped in front of the console, they will discover three or so months worth of decay. Apparently, the captain was dead when the passengers first arrived. Unfortunately, this means the mystery of who exactly has been speaking to them may never be solved.
As of this announcement Levels 1 and 2 are now open to all passengers. Level 2 contains a dust-covered Passenger Center, complete with ship and voyage maps, micro museum of intergalactic travel history, gift shop, and information desk. unfortunately, every piece of information has been destroyed, blotted out, or otherwise rendered illegible. the whole level appears to have been vandalized rather than damaged in battle and the vulgar messages scrawled on the walls support this.
Level 1 is the bridge and no matter what passengers attempt, technical, magical, or otherwise, they will not succeed in altering the ship from its course.
security throughout the ship has failed and Levels 15, 14, and 13 along with it. All recreational and passenger-associated levels of the ship with the exception of the brig and the library have now been sealed off and the only means to reach the Enviro-dome is the single transporter pad tucked away in a corner of Level 10.
The cabin itself remains safe from the failures and shut downs throughout the ship. A light snowfall will start up sometime in the early morning and chances are it won't be stopping any time soon. Despite this, the cabin will remain secure and spacious enough for any who wish to stay there.
Those that do will find a surprise waiting for them under the Christmas tree tomorrow morning. One of these boxes will be labeled with their name. Inside will be a gift representing the passenger's most sincere desire. Do they want to go home more than anything else? It will be some item or trinket from their house or town. Do they want to see their family and friends? It can be a photograph of them. What the gift is exactly is left up to you, though it has to be small enough to fit inside the box.
As for the rest, passengers have until midnight on Sunday to come to terms with the inevitable.
