Parties weren't the TARDIS' thing. She disliked crowds and was about as much of a people person as a rock. But she knew this was also a last chance affair for a great many of the passengers, some of whom she'd come to grudgingly like over the course of their unorthodox adventure.

And so she found herself in the wet lounge, standing quietly off to the side, still uncomfortable with the idea of voluntarily mingling. It was enough just to watch, she thought, to see these people enjoy themselves. It was what she'd done for centuries before coming here, after all, and she'd have to get used to being on the sidelines again, once she went home.

Frankly, the Doctor was surprised to find the TARDIS there, and when he did, he beamed at her. From the bar, he waved jovially and came over with two banana daiquiris, offering one to her. "I think you'll find this sweeter than the wine, old girl," he said, grinning cheekily.

She took the proffered glass, sniffing experimentally before trying a sip. It was quite a bit sweeter than the wine and she smiled, taking another drink of the tasty liquid. If she didn't know any better, she'd wonder if the man was out to get her inebriated, all the alcohol he'd given her lately.

"Thank you," she murmured quietly. "It is much better than the wine, yes."

If he really wished to get her inebriated, he'd give her a couple Ruderian Triple Whammies, but even those did his head in after a long night, so he spared his ship of such things. Besides, banana daiquiris simply tasted better.

"Why yes, I thought so as well," he said, taking a drink from his. "I'm glad you came. I know you're not one for this sort of thing, but I know Ollie would appreciate it. And so do I."

"I thought perhaps to watch the others enjoy themselves one last time," she admitted, sipping her drink and watching the floor. "It will be difficult enough returning to that role when this is over. It seemed appropriate to try."

"So," he said softly. "That's your decision then? I mean, well, there's no telling we'll truly remember this." But he was already making mental preparations so he could.

She glanced at him through her lashes, then returned her attention to her drink. "You said you did not want to know my decision," she noted. "It was to be mine alone."

He let out a breath. "Ah yes, I did say that, didn't I?" he asked out loud.

For a moment, she didn't reply, just studying her glass. "Do you want to know?"

Did he? A small part of him was curious--there always was no matter what incarnation he was in--but he shook his head as he sipped from his drink. "No. I said I didn't, and I'm standing by that decision."

She knew he was curious, but also knew he wouldn't let himself know, so she simply nodded and looked out over the crowd of people slowly filling the lounge. "Will you miss this place?"

"Nah," he said all too quickly. "Would've been nice for a visit, but if I stay here any longer, I'll start to grow roots and they might start charging me for everything I've bought here. Never mind they want to reward us and honour us. Nah, that's not for me."

His words rang slightly false to her and she frowned, but made no further comment. He didn't want her to know he would miss certain aspects of this ship, she thought. He didn't want her to think he had enjoyed his time here.

And she couldn't blame him, because she felt much the same.

"What will you do when you go home, do you think?"

"Well, you know me. Pretty much the same thing I'd do normally. Travel around, explore, save a few worlds here and there, and do an awful lot of running," he said, shoving a hand into his pocket. He couldn't very well ask her the same question, though. They both knew what the answer would be.

"Running suits you," she replied softly, leaning lightly against his arm -- not enough to unbalance him, but weight enough to be noticable. "Do you suppose you will take on a companion?"

"It always has," he said in the same tone, gladly taking up her weight. "Ever since the beginning."

But at her question, her looked away, drinking from his daiquiri to fill in the silence. "That all depends on how much I remember."
