The Countdown Starts

What a year 2010 has been. It's been a wild ride. Our family has been through ups and downs all the way and I'm glad the year is nearly over. Looking forward to 2011 and hoping it gets better.

Some of you guys know we're having to tighten our belts for next year thanks to being new homeowners. Our mortgage's escrow hasn't settled yet, and our monthly payments have boosted by $145 per month. Which is better than the $250 that it was GOING to be, but still not happy to find. We're trying to compensate for that amount by selling one of our vehicles (we don't use it much anymore anyway) so if anyone wants to buy an '01 Saturn V6 wagon let me know. XD

I tell you what, it's a good thing I've been working from home the past year, because being on a tight budget is a full time job in and of itself. It's doable for sure, but all the juggling coupons and sales, and making food that will last, takes a lot of time.

Looking to 2011 I've got some fun projects to complete. Kenai's costume will be done just after the new year, a great way to start off the new year. :) We're looking into some new anime conventions to head to, so if you have any suggestions on that front let me know! I've got some more accessories in the works for 2011 as well, going to be up on my Etsy store soon. Slowly I am getting the hang of this "business" thing and getting more organized with my schedule. I have nothing but huge amounts of gratitude for those that have been in the first wave of commissions and letting me build a portfolio with their costumes.

A few things to look forward to in the near future include visiting ReptiCon in Orlando next month (yessss!!) and putting my house back together after Christmas decorations are taken down. I love the Christmas tree (although I think my cat loves it more) but I would love the wall space back for my coffee table. ;) A recent rearranging of the bedroom has put our bed in a place where lights don't shine directly on us at night - we have a few warehouses with bright lights nearby - and I know I have been sleeping much better. It's like playing Animal Crossing, but in real life. :D

So, I don't know if I'll have a chance to post anything more before the new year, and if I don't, I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday this Friday night. Let's raise a glass and hope that 2011 is better than 2010. :)

new year, holiday, business, finances
