Gross Things On My Cat
Joe was petting the cat earlier today and found a little something. :X
He was holding the cat in one arm and petting with the other. His hand was near the rear end of the cat and when he put the cat down there was a little white worm on his fingernail. o_O
Even though his fecal came back negative, looks like he might've had worms of some sort.
It seems to be able to change its shape, squashing to get flat & then stretching out to get longer, as illustrated by the photo. The pics are of it alive and moving (as it is still) not squished and dead. It seems to also have a mouth (or at least an opening) visible on one end, which looks to be flatter than the rear.
If anyone knows what this is on sight (I know a couple of you guys work in animal hospitals and at least half of y'all own cats, so...) but regardless I am going to be bringing it by the vet's in the morning. :I
Glad Joe had the sense to save the thing... me, I probably would've squealed "ICK!" and squished it and got rid of it. O_o;
Edit: Tapeworm segment. Ewwww. Amazing that the fecal exam could miss that, really... ah well.
The vet gave me a trial packet of Revolution to put on the kitten and that is supposed to help control roundworm and hookworms, but it didn't say anything about tapeworm. So I will be giving the vet a call, and keeping the critters isolated once more. :P
