Heheh, we ended up not staying in Orlando today after all; our weekend was so exhausting, we were ready to come back home. That, and our bank account is officially empty, until pay day. :P
We had a great time at Disney, and I've had one of the best birthdays ever!! (PS, thanks to those of you who wished me a happy one!) We got down there around 6:30 on Thursday evening, and went to Downtown Disney to have dinner at Earl of Sandwich. We got up pretty early on Friday, went to the parks and had a blast!! Then Saturday was just spent relaxing. I read my book and we lounged on the beach of the lake, then hung out on the porch of the little restaurant, sitting in the rocking chairs for a bit. Just a nice lazy day. We ended it by going to Downtown Disney again that night, where we saw Enchanted at the movie theater; REAL cute movie, I recommend it!! :) Then this morning, we packed up the tent, ate a big ol' breakfast at the restaurant at the campground, and headed home. Actually it was one of the quickest, smoothest drives up from Orlando; for once, everyone was going the speed limit or over, and no back-ups in traffic. It took exactly two hours to get from there to here, including time to go out of our way to get Joe's car (he'd left it at my work) and then to gas up on my way home. Not bad. :)
So the parks were a BLAST. We went to Magic Kingdom first thing, ran around and hit some fun rides, looked for
kaliko_t_kat but couldn't find her. :( We did get to go on the new Haunted Mansion though, and I took a picture of Joe being emo-looking at the exit. We were in the exit hallway and I accidentally had my flash on; even though there was NO ONE behind us and I was standing in the doorway (there was plenty of daylight flooding in) I got yelled at by one of the ladies for flashing. "No flash photography!!" I can understand on the ride itself, but at the door to the outside...?? When there's not even anyone else around?? Okay.... well, then we went to Animal Kingdom which neither of us had been to before, and we explored the whole African part. The safari was neat!! We also took a quick walk around the rest of the park to see what was there but we wanted to get on to Epcot so we didn't explore too much. I regret not being able to see some of the shows; I really wanted to see the bird show, and the Festival of the Lion King. But something to save for next time, I suppose! After Animal Kingdom we went to Epcot, went over to The Seas which is our favorite place to take it easy in the afternoon (a good resting place!) and watched the dolphin presentation where they had one of the dolphins matching images from one window to the other. That was fun to watch! Then we walked around the different countries, of course Joe wanted to hit Japan so we didn't dwell too long in any other place. ;) We ate dinner at the Tokyo Dining restaurant and I felt so weird and out of place because the servers were so proper and polite and I felt like a rude American. ;_; It'd be nice to learn their traditions and such, before going back there. ;P Then we walked the rest of the perimeter, and headed out actually a little earlier than usual; we went back to the campground around 8:30, we were just so tired by then. But I was surprised we'd been able to pack so much in!!
One thing that was GREAT about this weekend was that it was NOT crowded at all. There was NO ONE there. Usually it's all elbow-to-elbow and a madhouse; those of you who are experienced with Disney World will know what it means when I say that even at 11am, Space Mountain only had a 20 minute wait to ride. We didn't need to use fastpasses for anything other than the safari at Animal Kingdom; everything else we just walked right on to. It was kind of hazy and almost drizzly all day; it didn't really even rain except a light sprinkling around lunchtime but the rest of the day was just overcast and pretty cool. Great weather for walking around the theme parks. :)
So that was our weekend. I've got lots of pics and some video clips I need to edit together to put on YouTube (the Mac is still not hooked up and in use yet) and I was impressed I actually got Joe to pose with a couple of characters with me. :P I'll show those later when I have the chance.
For now, I think I am going to take a nap!! Sleeping in a tent is fine, but that bed is calling my name anyhow!
(This post is brought to you by our new laptop, and the neighbor's unsecured wireless internet! hehehehe)
