Goddamn computer monitor blew out on me...now when I turn it on, all I can see is a bright line across the middle of the screen that seems to be something like a sum of all the horizontal lines that should be on the screen. I'm thinking that whatever part of the CRT in the back makes the e- beam scan up and down across the Y axis of the phosphors is dead, and so all I'm getting is the sum of the monitor in one line across the X axis.

Reading the above, I can't believe what a nerd I am. It's almost as bad as when yesterday, after reading a story about a man falling down a 105 foot deep hole, I felt compelled to figure out how long he would have been free falling for. If I remember correctly, he was falling for (and I used some approximations to arrive at this number) about 2 seconds. Pretty scary that a fall from a nine story building would only give you two seconds of contemplation before you hit the ground...that sounds really, really morbid.
