Car repairs are expensive.

I think Apollo Body Shop was less than forthcoming about what they actually did to repair our car and the quality of parts being used for the repairs they said they did. Since I've been less than impressed with the repair shops we've been to before, I picked one that is at least closer to my work (and from the poking around, seems to be reasonably well regarded), Phoenix Motor Works on 6th.

The front strut mounts, radiator and engine mounts all have big problems--I am at a loss for how in the hell the bottom of our radiator got scraped up since I cannot recall a single time the car has bottomed out. One thing at least we think can safely be put off for another time (not the radiator, that's for sure), but this car needs to pass inspection sooner rather than later so we have to prioritize. Repairs will be pricey, but I don't think the mechanic we're trying this time is dicking us around on price or adding things needlessly at least.

Until the Volvo's back, I'm driving a tinny (and tiny) little Chevy Aveo. The salesguy at Enterprise tried to upsell me cause "it's only for a day..." Yeah right. I'm having to shell out too much on repairs to pick out a "fun" car. Try that on a blonde mark next time. Or a mark who hasn't just come in complaining about having to shell out a ton of money on car repairs.

grr, car
