Mardock Scramble, Pt1

The main character obviously has some powerful issues. She cries "I'll rape you!" as obviously that's the only power she feels after being violated sexually so many times. The old female assassin would cry "I'll let the pigs rape you!" As if she, as a woman, could not punish her: instead, she would leave her to the men to be violated. The female, obsessed with skin and hair... and a frighteningly ugly creature underneath her veil. A superficial yet typical woman of society, chasing beauty while becoming ugly and powerless underneath. And god, that image of her brother staring at her deadly while firing another round... hoooooly shit. Some differences between the manga and the anime: the movies I think are thematically much tighter. The movie initially had this masturbatory imagery of her naked body which I thought was nakedness for the sake of nakedness; but I think by revealing her body constantly, it's as if we the viewer are let in to her vulnerability--against her will, in a way, but she's so damaged she doesn't care anymore. We are violating her body, watching it be violated. The manga obviously shies away from the mature imagery, and he makes the characters much more charming, but I think the movies are better artistically, while I might enjoy the manga a bit more.

This girl is practically always naked. I guess it's like she's always suspended in the embryo, floating between cycles of rebirth. Wooo~ onwards
