Feathers and Scales

And on and on the black winged angel flies. Touching the lives of many yet leaving everything untouched. Shrouded by darkness, hiding the inner demons that haunt his deepest dreams. But he has found something now, something that has him spellbound, mystified, entranced. Something he longed for. Something without description, blind love, pure love, unconditional love. A mermaid carries his name, and he flies higher than he has ever flown before. His black wings once a sign of darkness and loneliness now resemble a certain purity. He hears her call and with haste he dives into the depths of her vast ocean home. They hold each other for a few moments, yet it is like an eternity to them. You see, to them the world seems to vanish, water becomes air, air becomes water, up becomes down, down becomes up. They just simply float in a wonderful world where only their love is true. He smiles at her and takes her hand as he races towards the surface. There under the tropical sun they have found happiness at last. Through all the pain, the scars, and the tears they have finally found each other. She looks at him, he gazes back and smiles. "So, tell me, if a bird and a fish were to fall in love where would they live?" he playfully asks her. Splashing at him she smiles back and says, "if air is water and water is air, just as up is down and down is up, then we can live anywhere we want for through our love we can do anything."

The sun begins to set as they lay together on the sandy beach. She twirls her fingers in his hair as he holds her. "How did you know that I was referring to us?" he asks. She giggles at him, "there are things you say with your lips love, and things you say with your heart." Soon the stars come out and they drift together into their world of fluid emotion and raw passion, a love that will last forever.
