Interview with Melissa Marr, author of Ink Exchange

May 01, 2008 09:22

I am going to put up a writing post soon (when I start
summerwrite  after work) but I also have to mention this interview with Melissa Marr over at
fangs_fur_fey. I got to review an advance copy of Ink Exchange for Booklist and I loved it, even though I haven't read her first book, Wicked Lovely, yet. (I do have it, though.) Ink Exchange is an urban faerie tale, following Leslie, a mortal woman who finds herself bound to Irial, the King of the Dark Court, by a tattoo she gets. She gets the tattoo as a way to reclaim her body after a horrific rape (thankfully, not described in detail), and it's ironic that the tattoo does change her, but not in the way she imagined. The nature of the addictive relationship Leslie and Irial find themselves in as a result of this tattoo is the main story, but there are a lot of other equally fascinating and complex characters that have a part to play in their story. I was really sucked in to this novel, so I thought I would mention the interview, since she talks a little about the book and her writing process. She's a great one to read for urban fantasy lovers.
