Books I am dying to read, Part two

Nov 15, 2009 10:49

Since all the books from Part One are out and I have either read them or have them at home on my to-read pile, I thought I'd make another post of books I'm waiting for. These are all series books in the pretty far future still: March 2010, April, and beyond.

A Conspiracy of Kings, by Megan Whalen Turner: Yes, it's still on the list, and still number one. I will drop everything when I get this book. I feel like I've been waiting for it my entire life.

The Dead-Tossed Waves, by Carrie Ryan: This is the sequel to Forests of Hands and Teeth. Again with the evocative title. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to Mary and see how other communities of people are dealing with the Unconsecrated hordes. I'm especially looking forward to hearing more about the ocean, since the ending of Forests makes it look pretty grim.

The Desert Spear, by Peter V. Brett: Look, an adult book! I 'm actually waiting for the sequels to several new fantasy series but this is the one I want to read the most. I reviewed the first one, The Warded Man, for Booklist, so I hope they send me this one.

The Clockwork Angel, by Cassandra Clare: I'm pretty sure this is the title of the first of Clare's prequels to the Mortal Instruments series. The MI books were something of a guilty pleasure read (not that I feel guilty); they worked as a kind of urban fantasy soap opera and I enjoyed reading them. I know Magnus will be in these prequels and he's my favorite character (despite being a side character, and really, I think he's the favorite of a lot of people), so I'm looking forward to that as well.

Bitterblue, by Kristin Cashore: It's way too early to know what this is really about, besides the obvious, but Cashore is such an amazing writer that I can't wait to read it. I also hope that Katsa and Po will be in this one, at least a little, because even though I liked Fire very much, I prefer Graceling -- I just liked the characters more. I also feel like I can predict, at least a little, where Fire's story is going to go after the ending of her book, but I don't really know what to expect for Katsa and Po. I want a continuation to their story.

The Demon's Covenant, by Sarah Rees Brennan: Brennan is another great writer, so this sequel is on my list even though I haven't finished The Demon's Lexicon yet. I've read about half of it and even though I was sucked into the story, I had to set it aside for later because of all the review deadlines I have right now. I have the ARC for The Demon's Lexicon so I don't have a deadline for this one.
