Ok the most recent show I got hooked on is a french crime show called Spiral that's being shown on BBC4.
It's fairly gritty and power play-y i.e. there are many levels of push and pull and manipulation and plots both between the criminals and within the police and the lawyers.
Sort of a mix of The Wire and Law and Order, except french.
As I mentioned it's on bbc4 with subtitles etc. so the whole lot is available on the bbc iplayer for those who have access to that one.

This is season 2 and it clearly builds on season 1 which I hadn't seen but it's good stuff.
