Introducks

I'm a bluebonnet living in a field of  yellow and orange and green purslane . I was educated in a Queen Anne's lace patch by a horse padlock.
Honest.

Which is why I can't close up in my blankies at night like the purslane- I wasn't around here to learn how. Thet're kina purty how they grow up to each  other till they make a carpet. But i like how tall I am, and I've always been by myself, I don't know anytihng else to miss it. Never met another bluebonnet.

Course we don''t like got feet to go off meetin' ta other. I bow in breezes and look at the blokes I tower o'er. A pretty big nettle. I don't mean big like me;  it's all stuck to the ground like a decorative plastic flower you snap onto a piece of cloth with the magic fastener; stuck there tight. But it has  these long legs
And I see blades of thick   wild Michigan grass  and a purple violet all shriveled  and her purple turning black as she demurely hides her wasting disease from me, sorta.  I see one of them truly red, not orangy,  ladybugs climbing surefootedly up a juniper seedling and a few ants on a dead wasps' leg-all that's left of him besides the crackly inedible wings I'm identifying him by.
There used to be another bluebonnet- my daughter, who went away to college and just emailed me that she got As in taxonomy, newspaper reading, mouse-back riding #3 and  balloon dachshounds, and a B in field identification of human species.
She told me they discovered the new species they discovered wasn't one after all- Teen Yardape, with it's females all in extremely short little  pleated, frilly skirts with long shirts making them even shorter than a competition  ice skater's, silky Bic-lighter yellow pigtails framing the face and huge pink bows at the top, fatal-looking red lips and fawning dispositions replete with batting eyelids, are nothing but Japanese girls dressing what they call American, although the Americans walking amongst them have mousy  dirty-dishwater hair hanging straight down to their shoulders, anemic white lips  and blue jeans and  short tee-shirts on, and are reserved rather than bouncing from group tp group with a giant lollipop in one hand and a jammin cell phone in the other.

first, bluebonnet
