My heart is released!
Great news! This morning as I was wiggling out of bed, my mobile phone started ringing. It was a call from the insurance company. They're willing to cover all but the "cosmetic" bit of surgery!
However, my surgeon is "out of network," which means there's a $1k deductible and I have to foot 30% of the bill (plus whatever they won't pay--they will pay what they think a procedure is "worth" and then the surgeons turn to me with the rest of the bill). That's still a large chunk of change, but I should be able to swing it thanks to the remaining donations and my FLEX account without going into debt (although I will still need to dip into my own savings quite a bit--it beats what I was facing before--absolute financial annhilation!).
More details as I receive more information.
After all this long wait, it's finally going to happen. It almost seems too good to be true! I think it was good to go in person and answer those questions.
