I went to see the orthodontist yesterday. I'm getting my braces on the 12th of March, three days after my birthday. To prep me for that, they had to put rubber discs called "spacers" between my back teeth. It was very uncomfortable getting them in. I have eight in my mouth all together.
This morning it felt like someone punched me in my mouth. I can't eat. I keep slurping on applesauce and gelato.
I do think I will be losing massive amounts of weight with braces now. Good thing I am putting off all new clothing purchases.
I hope braces don't hurt like this all the time :(
But I'm glad that things are moving again. I am seeing a different surgeon for another quote on March 11th. I have a slightly different insurance policy now. The old one, they told the other surgeon (who's office was so poor at returning phone calls) that the wouldn't say whether they would or would not cover my surgery until after I got it done.
Bullshit.
I'm hoping the clinic in Durham will be more affordable and return my phone calls. And I hope United Healthcare will take me seriously now that I'm not on their "impoverished" plan.
The ortho seems worried that I haven't locked in a surgeon yet. "Most won't start work unless the insurance agrees to pay for it first..." Tough nougies. We're moving ahead. If the insurance won't cover what the donations can't, I will find a way, somehow. I will. Promise. I have a year to figure it out. Just can't wait anymore.
