I got 12 hours of mostly uninterrupted sleep last night! It's a record, for sure.
Of course today's meant to be a productive, playing-around-with-clay sort of day, so the oversleeping isn't as appreciated as it would be otherwise. I do feel, however, like I've finally caught up with myself. So I'm settling into some general Sandman gratitude.
While waiting for the coffee to work its glorious magic, I've been playing catch-up on the couch of life-sucking doooooooom, listening to an excellent goth-industrial mix. This is how I ease myself back into Autumn - and the Hallowe'en season - after a trip out to the desert.
Continuing on with the seasonal theme,
lydia_petze linked to this
series of photos, by photographer Joshua Hoffine. He set up scenes to capture fears - a blend of childhood fears [monsters under stairs, beds, behind doors, witches in candy houses, clowns] and more adult horror [that's where the gore steps in, along with gas masks and creepy bug ladies]. Be aware- there are graphic horror images within and if you have problems with clowns, spiders or bugs I'd recommend giving this a pass. But I really love the idea of distilling fears down to a single photograph. The attention to sets and lighting really make the photos pop.
This also reminds me that there's a scattering of tweaked-out art links that I've been meaning to share with y'all. It's creepy stuff - Mr. Toast, who is not a fan of Teh Creepy, was rather disgruntled when I shared the sites with him. [He puts up with a lot, that Pook.] Don't worry, Gang -I'll make sure to warn correctly when I do make that post. :)
I really, REALLY want to go see Zombieland now. I doubt Mr. Toast wants any part of *that* adventure.
Well, daylight's burning and I still have to clean off the desk before I can get started. Ugh.
Wish me luck!
ETA: I ALMOST FORGOT!
Threadless is having a 24 hour Hallowe'en shirt sale on Monday. All of the Octobery tees are going to be 10.00! I think it's past time for me to get
this shirt.
