For the record - I love you guys a lot. Not a single one of you gave me a hard time for my pre-coffee stumbling around the flist, leaving typo-filled holiday wishes in your journals. Hopefully the sincerity behind the messages let you overlook the errors? Regardless - gang, you're the BEST and I'm ever so lucky to have you in my life. ♥ for days!

On a related note - expect to see replies to comments from my older posts in your inboxes. Being sick this month really set me back, and I hope to catch up properly before the year turns. I know I say that a lot, but I've a lot of determination [and a resolution, dammit]. There are also two more happiness posts to come.

Today has been a good day.
But then, I'm blessed with lovely people to share time, conversation and celebratory meals with, so I guess the resulting fabulousness shouldn't be surprising. This year Mr. Toast and I had the divine Ms. Boo as our houseguest; in years past, Himself and I would exchange gifts at home, then head over to Boo's for the rest of the day. I admit that I wasn't looking forward to a Christmas without the extended household. It's likely that I'm still in denial a little about Boo and
ravgonfly being in another state. Christmas was looking lonely...until events shifted around, and Boo could stay. [I still missed Teh Sis, though. She is spending the hols with the parentals, however, which is awesome.]\o/!
We had an excellent late breakfast - there was bacon, sourdough toast, asparagus and scrambled egg marvelousness - and spent a REALLY LONG TIME lingering over gifts. I think the general gift motifs can be summed up nicely by the ornaments my parents gave to Mr. Toast and I: a teeny toaster, a Wonder Woman ornament, a hand-cast winged skull in pewter and a delicate wood-turned fir tree [that one was made by T-Padre; when he's not playing Mad Scientist at his day job, he's been working on mastering wood-turning. And dude, he's getting really skilled.] This was also the Book Christmas - between the three of us, I think we ended up with about 20 books. Including... MY POETRY BOYFRIEND. *bounces* I cannot WAIT to dig into that book of interviews! HeaneyHeaneyHeaney...
Um... yeah.
So, it was was a great holiday with laughter and good company, excellent chocolate and sunshine, accessorised nicely with the printed word, moderate amounts of Shiny and skulls [sometimes the skulls *were* the Shinys. Glitter skulls! Woot! Yup, Teh Fam has my number...].
[The only bit of personal holiday drama happened yesterday, over wrapping gifts. Have I mentioned how much I absolutely LOATHE wrapping presents? We're talking 'I'd rather hold a handful of slugs or eat an entire bag of walnuts' level of hate here. Wrapping paper makes me cry from frustration, every year, without fail. And this year was no exception. I'm not very good at wrapping, which makes the perfectionist in me BUG OUT. :P I'm going to save my pennies and next year I'm taking all my gifts to the mall, were volunteers can do it all for me. And the money goes to charity - everyone wins!]
Now, Mr. Toast is rattling pots in the kitchen - we settled on White Chili for the holiday feast this year. The plan is to watch something seasonal with the meal - we're debating between White Christmas and Die Hard. It's far more likely that Bruce Willis will win. I've tomorrow off, and plan on baking up a storm [You know, as opposed to stirring one up. ;D]. I'm listening to Louis Prima sing about shaking hands with Santa Claus, and find myself both grateful and content.
I hope your day contained both cheer and peace.
[And socks. Mustn't forget the socks.]
*toasts you with my holiday unicorn mug full of cocoa*
