Throwing in my quick thoughts! Depending on personality, children this age can be quite loud and impulsive. Children are generally a little more "me" centered than adults, since they haven't fully developed "taking another person's POV".

An eight year old should be able to understand the whole "If I hit someone they hurt"-thing, but they might not be all that great at "If I keep interrupting and talking about things only I find interesting it's rude"-thing. Their guardians might have taught them that it's rude, but not all have internalized it (especially not when talking to adults, since adults in their minds are supposed to put "kids first", just like they might share candy with other children but think their parents should give them all the candy and have none for themselves).

As for language (which kind of is my thing XD), children this age should have adult-equivalent grammar and pronounciation. What's still in development is "how and where do we talk about what"-rules and vocabulary. Vocabulary is mostly extended through reading, so depending on how much reading said kid does or how often s/he is read to, that expansion can go quickly or slowly.

More walls of text, yay!

Any paticular situation you had in mind, btw?
