Poetry Fishbowl Statistics from 2011

The Poetry Fishbowl project began in November 2007 and opened for donations in January 2008. It has built up a lot of steam since then. Here are some statistics from 2011:

Total Prompters: 59
Total Donors: 36
Number of K-fans: 9 *
Number of Fishbowl Poems Written: 270
Number of Fishbowl Poems Sold Outside: 3
"Othertongues" to Linger Fiction (November 3, 2009, Languages & Ways
of Writing)
"The Forest of Infinity" to Star*Line (April 6, 2010, High Fantasy) ?
"Astronauts and Angels" to Star*Line (March 1, 2011, Things With Wings)
Highest Number of Prompters: 29 (10/4/11 Ghosts)
Highest Number of Comments: 131 (8/2/11 Corruption & Redemption)
Total Poems Posted: 168 + 15 (sale) = 183

* K-fans are people who spend 100+ in a year, inspired by the article "1000 True Fans." Some of mine are now superfans who would qualify for k-fan multiple times. (I totally did not expect that.) Hence the enriched perk structure for 2012.

Between 2010 and 2011, the number of prompters went up and so did the number of poems posted. There was a modest increase in the number of sponsors per month.

The number of comments went WAY up, and so did the amount of donations. Interestingly, those two correlate more often than not, although not perfectly. I think that when people start riffing off each other, that shows they're excited about the topic, which pulls in more people, which generates more excitement. And sometimes it generates more poetry, because I've pulled comments for use as prompts too. This is crowdfunding at its finest, a positive feedback look. I find that very encouraging.

I look forward to seeing where 2012 takes us. Keep an eye out for tomorrow's fishbowl on "heras and villainesses!"
