Discussion: Where do you find crowdfunded projects?

So far there is no central hub for all kinds of crowdfunded projects.  What we have are a few general communities like this one, some dedicated fundraising sites, and a bunch of sites dedicated to one specific format.  Plus word-of-mouth advertising and actual ads, of course ( Read more... )

Seems like more word of mouth - I found haikujaguar first when someone linked to her Three Micahs column, and djinni's icon day when someone who'd taken part in one linked to the next, and Torn World and Sketch Fest because I was following ellenmillion already.

Yeah, a fair number of people seem to use me as a newsfeed because I collate a diversity of interesting stuff. I wouldn't have expected it, but I've heard it enough to count it as a regular aspect now.

Word of mouth, freestuffday and similar communities (artsales, teenycom, you, Ysabetwordsmith ;-), Twitter, Kickstarter... Ravelry, for knitting stuff...

I like Ravelry and craftgrrl for the photos. Sometimes I link to stuff just because it looks awesome. Maybe if enough people do that, the crafter will eventually think, "Hey, maybe I could make money at this."

There's a lot of stuff on Rav that I'd call crowdsourced and crowdfunded - patterns tested in the Testing Pool forums, then posted as tipware or freeware.
