Sketch Fest #12

Mar 25, 2011 17:47

Join us for a 24 hour sketch jam! Artists from all over the world are welcome to hop in - grab a prompt and a pencil (or stylus, or paintbrush, or even a lump of clay!) and spend up to an hour interpreting it. It's a great way to shake a rusty muse back into action, and to stretch your artistic muscles. Not an artist? Bring us prompts and see what ( Read more... )

One year of sketch fest is quite an accomplishment. (Come to think of it, we're past a year on the Muse Fusions too, aren't we?) Yay!

You might consider allowing people to use your new idea of buying extra minutes for a sketch that they like, though. That was really cool and I'd like to see the idea spread around.

We are! (Past a year of Muse Fusions, that is.) Someone else had to point out to me that we were coming up on the Sketch Fest anniversary, or it might have passed me by, too. Heh. Yay on both counts!

Oh, I wouldn't mind folks using the model of asking for funds for minutes to work on sketches, either - I'd love to see people picking up that method of crowdfunding in general, actually. Maybe I'll do a full post on that topic later...

Please do! I will gladly pimp your post on minute-based sponsorship of sketching. I suspect some of my artist-friends would enjoy trying that. haikujaguar in particular uses audience interest to decide which sketches to finish as paintings. This might go well with that.

Hope you don't mind a post from a crowdfunding newbie...

Seems like I've missed this sketch fest, but it looks like a very interesting idea, so I'll try to remember for next time. I've been thinking a lot lately about how crowdfunding might be applied to illustration, and I'm often in need of subjects for warm-up sketches and media experiments. I'm considering inviting people to contribute short scenes or story excerpts - that way I have something to draw, and they get a free (payment-optional) sketch, so I'm kind of excited to see that you're having success with a somewhat similar concept :)

Welcome! :)

We'd love to see you next month at Sketch Fest!

I've got a post brewing on a progressive funding method, too - I shall cross-post it to the community once I write it up! :)
