Scully had spent the better part of a week away from everyone. Returning from the Near Future, the demon inside of her had taken full hold, but it was finding out some very interesting facts about it's host. She had a strange obsession with a book about a whale, and had seen many strange things in her life. She was also fighting his control strongly, but losing regardless. None of these compared, of course, to the nugget he finally gleaned one evening as he walked her tired body through the woods, coming dangerously close to a few of the wild unicorns that were on the land.
Though she wasn't ready to admit it, the woman was in love.
Mulder, her partner, was her main thought, her main concern. Through an in-depth search of her strong memories, he gathered that the man felt the same way.
And suddenly, the demons desire to rain havoc on many changed when it realized it could ruin these two in a moment.
Scully smiled as she walked through the castle for the last time. Quiet, she would seem only lost in thought, and none would notice the edge of panic in the very center of her eyes, where the real woman fought to break free. Trapped in her own mind, Scully shared the thoughts with the demon, and knew what it was planning. She cried out constantly, hoping for one small moment her own self could break free, but it never did.
The demon smiled when it saw the notice for the dance. The perfect night, it seemed, for chaos. With such a party, he was sure he could cast doubt into the mind of the man Mulder, who would be quick to jump at any excuse to blame the extraordinary. The woman had already been abducted by aliens once in her life, Mulder would love an excuse to blame her death on that event.
The demon led a fighting Scully to a few places around the castle before she disappeared out the basement wine cellar entrance she had first entered the castle through.
Near the moat, not too far from the location of the destroyed tank that had caused his release, the demon set his plan to work. Working with a strength that only one possessed could muster, Scully quickly drank the bottle of wine that she had brought with her. Then, the demon made her break the bottle over a near by rock before sinking it deep into her own stomach. Scully, coming a bit stronger into her own head, scrambled for her phone with her left hand as her right hand went for her own pistol.
The demon got a single shot into her left shoulder before Scully could send a frantic voice message.
Her control was strong enough only for a
short message before the demon raised her shaking hand again and pulled a final shot into her own forehead.
The demon slipped away, it's host dead, sinking back into the depths from which it had came.
Around her body, the grass moved slightly with the wind. Stars blinked overhead. Up at the castle, the noise of the party covered the sounds of her death.
