Tosh wasn't sure why she'd left Cardiff in the middle of everything - except that she'd needed to. She didn't ordinarily pay much attention to gut feelings, eschewing them in favour of logic and sensibility, but this was different. So she'd loaded a bag with an assortment of technology and met the helicopter, not telling the rest of the team she was leaving. If things went well, then it would be a pleasant surprise. If not, nobody could chastise her for being un-Tosh-like and following her heart straight into a trap. (Because it did seem like a fairly obvious trap, but, well, she was going because of the glimmer of opportunity she glimpsed.)

As she arrived at the castle, she pulled a handheld scanner out of her backpack - but it was dead and refused to turn on. Tosh scowled at it; that wasn't supposed to happen. She needed to find a place where she could sit down and open it up - it wasn't as if it could have dead batteries, after all, since it wasn't powered by batteries, but an alien power source.

A few moments' search found a small room just off the main hallway with a table and chairs. She shrugged her backpack off, using it to prop the door open, and sat down, sliding her glasses on and grabbing her travel toolkit. A bit of quick prodding revealed that there were no problems with the scanner - and a thought occurred to Tosh. She took the rest of her tech out, inspecting it piece by piece. The only item that worked was the mobile she'd found on the helicopter. That was unusual, and definitely worth investigating - not that she would be able to do much without the scanner.

She rested her elbow on the table and slumped forward, rubbing her temple with her hand. This was not a good sign of, well, anything, and she was beginning to think she should have stayed in Cardiff after all.

methos, toshiko sato
