The Master told himself that he allowed Rose dragging him into the hallway because it suited the plan. Get her away from everyone else, isolate her from the Doctor, inject a little doubt, et cetera.

In truth, it was probably a little more complicated than that. But who had the time for truth?

He looked at her for a few seconds. "What did your friend tell you?" he asked simply.

Of course he wasn't going to answer. "My friend, the DOCTOR told me you weren't who you said you were. That you were bad and such." Her voice was hard and angry.

She looked at him then to the ground for a moment. "Are you a Time Lord?" This time her voice was softer and more curious.

He couldn't help but flinch a little at her tone, especially the way she emphasized "Doctor."

"Is that what he said?" The Master spoke very softly. "That I'm 'bad'?" He frowned, shifted his gaze to somewhere above her head. "I suppose he would say that. But then," he looked at her intently. "I'd like to think you're capable of coming to your own conclusions."

"Why would he say that?" The Doctor must have a good reason for saying something like that. "Course I can but maybe it'd help if you actually told me the truth." She didn't want to think that this Time Lord standing in front of her was bad but it was hard not to think that. Though there was something else something that made her want to believe that the Doctor was wrong.

"You didn't answer my second question."
