Cia was working outside on her steps, a sketchpad on her knee. She saw the glowing form run past, and tilted her head, looking after it. It looke like a Patronus--Sirius had shown her one. But he said they were only used against some scary sounding things---dementeds and lethifulls, or some weird shit like that.
She got up and started walking. Not following it, but going in the other direction, looking for whoever cast it. It wasn't Sirius' patronus, but it could've been Remus' or Barty's.
Instead, she found a boy. Well...not really. He was probably 2 or 3 years older than she was. 'Hello...' she said. 'Did you cast that?'
James looked up at the girl that just walked up to him. He wasn't usually one to notice girls, but she was quite unusual. In that interesting, he definitely wanted to know more about her kind of way. He stood up quickly and brushed off his clothes, having been raised a gentleman to the core. He smiled a little.
"That patronus? Yeah, I did that. Looking for my grandfather. He's supposed to be meeting me here. Have you seen him? He's about...this tall?" He raised his hand to a couple of inches above his own head.
"Very ginger. Bit over weight, but mum says he's always been big, even when he wasn't really fat." He chuckled softly.
James smiled a little at the mention of other wizards and then the smile faded quickly.
"Wait....you've talked to..." He scratched the back of his neck. That couldn't be possible.
"Are you talking about Sirius Black and Remus Lupin?" His parents had told him all about both men. His father always talked of them so fondly, as if they were surrogate fathers to him. But they were both dead. Weren't they?
"Yes...well I mean....I know of them. Never actually met them..." He cleared his throat. Can't meet dead people, after all.
"I'm James." He usually introduced himself with his full name but decided this might not be the best time to do that. She didn't need to know he was named after one of the men she knew.
"So um.....what is this place? I mean....my grandfather gave me this ticket and told me to meet him..." He held out the ticket so that she could look at it.
She smiled a bit sadly. 'It wasn't him. The tickets are lies. They say what you want to hear, in order to get you on the helicopter.' She didn't get into the rest, about being trapped. Now wasn't the time.
'I can take you to Sirius and Remus,' she offered. 'It's a kinda long walk, but... well, they maybe have more answers than me.'
"One way...." James looked back down at the ticket before letting it drop from his fingers. One way meant he couldn't get home. He couldn't see his parents or his siblings or his uncle or grandparents. He couldn't see his friends. He actually felt himself getting a bit misty eyed at the thought of never seeing his family again.
"I...can't go home?" His voice cracked a bit and his hands started to shake a little.
James looked down at her arm and then looked up at Cia.
"No....I have to get home. My mum...she'll be worried. I need to go." He took a couple of steps back from her and tried to apparate back to London. He really needed to get home.
Cia blinked as he disappeared from in front of her. 'UGHHHH What the fucking HELL?!' she asked. She took off toward Sirius' cabin in a run.
She only stopped when she saw a sopping wet boy climbing out of the moat. She ran over to him. 'You..... you.... GIT!' she shrieked, using the only british insult she actually knew. She stopped short of smacking his arm.
James coughed a few times as he climbed out of the moat. Why did he even bother trying to apparate. He never got it right. He almost looked around for his mother when Cia called him a git, but he just shook his head and shivered a little.
"Don't know why I tried it anyway. Stupid." He shook his head and sighed. So he wasn't going to get home that way. He sighed and pulled out his wand, muttering a charm that his father taught him. His clothes and hair were dry almost instantaneously, though his hair was sticking up everywhere.
She rolled her eyes and nodded. 'C'mon,' she said taking his arm. It wasn't long before they were approaching the house. 'Sirius!' she called as they approached.
James walked along with her, not objecting to her hand on his arm. Even though there was no skin contact, he got a slight tingle from her hand on his arm. What was going on? He was too busy causing trouble to really pay attention to girls. And of course the fact that she had red hair, as did most of his family, wasn't helping things either. He cringed a little when she called for Sirius.
"I'm not quite sure he heard you, maybe you should yell a bit louder?" He smirked a little.

She tipped her head thinking. 'Sirius or Remus might know your grandfather. I know I've heard Sirius mention an Arthur.'

'You know of them?' she said. She didn't know how big or small the wizard world was, really.
'I'm Cia. What's your name?'

"So my grandfather's not here." It was said more than asked. He scratched the back of his neck again.
"And I'm assuming I can just get on the next... helicopter back then?" He'd almost called it a kelihopper before mentally correcting himself.

"Can you just take me to Sirius?"
