How could he have not realized this was all a trap? Nothing really gave it away like his cellphone not working, but the tingles of suspicion started after he left the helicopter.
Sam narrowed his eyes on the castle in the distance, ignoring the wind caused by the helicopter’s blades slicing the air and whipping his coat and hair around as it took off again. It looked old, which contrasted violently with the road that was probably a couple yards away from him. The suspicion only grew when the more modern roads were vacant of both cars and people.
Like the castle was it’s own little piece of time. Which, in Sam’s line of work, wasn’t necessarily an impossible possibility, nor was it probably a good thing.
Sam lifted his phone from his pocket, adjusting the strap on his shoulder. He decided to try and call Dean, feeling really foolish for not telling him where he had gone too. He trusted Ruby enough not to lead him into trap, so Sam wasn’t sure who knew about their relationship other than Dean or Chuck, but who knew what people had what connections. Sam just hoped it wasn’t another hunter like Gordan.
He held the phone up to his ear as soon as it finished dialing, but only served to make his ear drum protest against the stabs of a high pitched ringing banging against it. He furrowed his eyebrows and lowered the phone to try and see if there was anything wrong with it. Spotting nothing, he hung up and tried to call again, but only got the same ringing that still echoed in his ears when he pulled it away.
That’s when it really hit home that something wasn’t right about this. Nothing said something horrible was going on or about to happen like a perfectly working cellphone that stopped working suddenly. Sam remembered the Croatoan incident and immediately checked for the 9 mm pistol hidden in his belt.
He really wished he had left a hint for his brother or something now. At least then Dean would have come looking and found him sooner. Sam was pretty sure with all these dangerous red flags going up in his head, that he was gonna need his help.
He sighed in frustration, keeping his hand by his gun just in case as he started walking foreword. He had no time to stand and regret about what he did or didn’t do. Unfortunately, the only lead he had about any of what might be happening was the strange castle the helicopter had dropped him off not too far from.
Sam just hoped he wasn‘t walking right into the trap he suspected this was.
