Lainey was out for a run, and stopped into the kitchen to get some water and something light to eat after. She paused when she heard someone yelling. Instinctively, she moved toward the source, her guard up. She saw only a pretty woman sitting alone. 'Hi there, you all right?' she asked, glancing around to make sure she hadn't missed something important.
Hearing someone else's voice, Amy had just been about to yell again, thinking perhaps it was that stupid eyepatch woman, whoever she was. Except no, it was a real person, standing in front of her like she was a crazy person. She had the decency to blush and then shake her head. "No.. I mean, honestly I don't really know."
She frowned just slightly. "I know this might sound a bit mad, but it feels like there's someone following me. And I don't mean just since I got here. It's like.." she trailed off, shaking her head.
Lainey sat down near the other woman. 'Honey, I was a cop--I'm used to 'a bit mad--add this place to it and there's not much I won't believe.'" she said with a smile. 'Want to talk about it?' she asked. 'If nothing else, I'm a good listener.' It was a function of her job, and also her education. She'd chosen psychology as her degree, wanting to know more about people and how they behaved and reacted.
Oh right. Yeah she forgot about how weird this place was and how everyone kind of must have to just accept the weird things that were happening. She looked a little relieved to know that no one was going to put her in a nut house. "Um.. sure. I mean, maybe it will help me figure out what's going on." Yeah she had no idea how bad it really was.
"Sometimes when I'm by myself.. I see this.. woman. It's like she pushes back part of the wall sometimes.. or, I dunno. She's a woman with an eyepatch and she tells me it's almost time, that I'm almost ready, and soon I'll have to push." Except push what. Clearly she wasn't pregnant. Was she?
Lainey listened quietly. 'And these aren't dreams?' she asked, for clarification. She could figure out reasoning in dreams easily enough.
She pulled out a cigarette and shifted some, so that she wouldn't be blowing smoke near Amy. 'Did this start before you came here, or after?' If it was after, they could chalk it up to just one more fucked up thing about this place. Before... well, once upon a time, Lainey would have immediately assumed something organic--a psychosis or something similar. But nowadays... she wondered how many people who'd been deemed mentally ill were just living an existence like this one--trapped in the wrong... dimension or something.
Amy shook her head, "No. I mean I just saw her, a second ago. Before you came over. She was real. Right there." She pointed to where the wall had looked like it moved. Then the woman had come through.
The whole thing was really creepy. "It was before I came here. I mean I saw her a lot before I came here." It seemed like everywhere she went. If it was here, yeah she would chalk it up to something weird here. But it wasn't here. It was everywhere else. She didn't actually know what was going on.
That was curious. Lainey glanced at the wall. It was perfectly solid. And unless this place had drawn her into Amy's dreams, the woman was indeed wide awake.
'Well... in MOST cases, my initial reaction would be to evaluate you for a delusional disorder. But... I have the feeling that it goes beyond that,' she said quietly. 'I mean, I can, if you want to rule it out. I'm more than capable of it--I'm a psychologist by training. But... I think we'd only BE ruling it out, and not any closer to the causes.' She put the cigarette out, and watched Amy.
It wasn't customary to take the approach she had, but most people weren't exposed to the--let's face it--really fucking weird ass shit- that happened here. That and her intuition led her away from something psychological.
Oh great, so she was delusional. Amy took a deep breath and let it out. "I don't even get why that would be the delusion of choice. I mean aren't you supposed to see purple unicorns or angels or something?" she wasn't an expert by any means.
"I guess it's a good idea if we rule it out." She didn't really know how to go about that, but she would do whatever the lady asked her to do because she didn't want to be delusional. Though she did have a point. This place, and her life was full of weird ass shit.
She glanced over at Lainey and shrugged, "Not that I'm trying to get out of it. But weird stuff has been happening to me for a really really long time. Being trapped here? Not even close to the weirdest thing that's happened to me."
Lainey laughed softly. 'People don't get to pick their delusions, sadly. Or there'd be far fewer people with delusions of being stalked by the government, and lots more pink elephants and purple unicorns.'
Lainey nodded. 'It'll be easy enough to rule out, I think. For what it's worth, I don't think that you ARE delusional. Or I wouldn't be talking in terms of ruling delusions out.
'What sort of other weird things?' she asked, curiously. She had no idea what she'd hear, but after killer unicorns, hallucinogenic caves, werewolves, and a room that allowed for time travel? Yeah, there wasn't much that she wouldn't buy into at this point.
Oh right. That made sense. Amy looked a little sheepish. "Right yeah, if you could pick it, then it wouldn't be a delusion. Either that or people would keep having delusions that they were surrounded by Brad Pitt or something." That would be a pretty good delusion.
That was good. She didn't want to be delusional. "Thanks. If the Doctor was here, I mean if I could find him, he'd know what to do." But she still hadn't found him at all.
"Um like the Doctor. I travel with him. In time and space. Um. We go to places. With aliens. And we restarted the universe with the big bang two, and Rory got wiped out of existence, but then he was brought back but he was plastic, and I met Vincent Van Gogh. Oh and there was a pirate ship that was connected to a space ship and a mermaid. It was fun until people started dying."
"He's the most amazing man that I've ever seen. And he's my best friend. He's just.. not here. Well he is, but not the version I know. He's from another planet, and he changes faces when he dies.." Oh it was a lot to explain. And she probably sounded more crazy than when she started.
"If I could find him, then I know he could help you know?"
She did indeed sound more crazy than before. But Lainey shrugged it off. Between the conversation she'd had with Sawyer, and the one with... argh, she'd forgotten his name. Damn. Well... between the two conversations, she was willing to accept Amy's words.
'I'm afraid I don't know him, but if you think he may be HERE, there's a transmission system, you enter a code and it transmits to everyone.'
Amy was used to people thinking that she was crazy. That was just why she didn't tell many people about her adventures about the Doctor. Much less the woman with the eyepatch.
"Oh I know, I've tried that. I mean, my friend seems to think that he's around here somewhere. I know I should ask him. I guess I'm just.. a little worried." She shrugged.
'Worried about what?' she asked, curiously. She reached for her water and took a lng drink before setting it down again and reaching up to retie her hair back.
"That he's not here anymore. Or well that he's just vanished. I know people do that sometimes. He seems to be missing." She didn't know anyone else that could help her.

Looking at her uncertainly she said, 'That's... pretty adventursome.' She didn't know how else TO reply.
