Viggo was looking through old pictures, partly due to homesickness, and partly trying to distract himself. Karl was off on his own in the castle, and Viggo was using the time to relax, have a beer, and kill time.
So far he'd successfully killed 23 minutes. He reached over and picked up his beer as he clicked over to the next picture. As he viewed it, his hand stopped, with the bottle halfway to his mouth. He set it down again and selected an area to zoom in.
It was taken at an anti-war rally on the first anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. At the far rear of the crowd was a red-haired woman whose face he recognised. 'What in the hell was Donna doing in Los Angeles?' he muttered. He noticed the man with her, and wondered if that was the one she called the doctor.
He scanned through more of the pictures, copying the ones that she was in to a new folder. Making a mental note to ask her about it, he moved on to the next batch.
Not 10 minutes later, he stopped again. This batch of photos, taken in Iceland. He was there for a promotion of his art, at around the same time as Mount Eyjafjallajökull erupted. He'd taken some pictures of that from as close as the government would allow people, knowing that his brothers--both geologists--would appreciate it. Amongst the throng watching the fiery fury of Mother Nature was a young blonde woman--with the same man. Now he had pictures of both Donna and Rose with presumably the doctor (doctor of what? he wondered idly).
He did the same thing as before, then moved on, now focusing on images from large gatherings or major events. Several times, he found pictures of Donna and Rose and the strange man. Finally, he picked up his phone and put out a universal message addressed to Donna and Rose.
