Lucifer was feeling faintly annoyed. He had departed his meeting with Dairine hoping to locate Loki and set him about a task that he had in mind. The god of mischief, however, was proving elusive. Whether that meant that he was deliberately masking himself, either in the pursuit of one of his own ploys, or simply still in a snit after their conversation two days ago, he didn't know. Indeed, it was possible he was even now exploring one of the other time periods this place had to offer. It was even possible, however unlikely, that he was simply no longer here. Where a god of trickery was concerned, certainty was often a commodity in short supply.

And so, for the moment, he found himself wandering, hoping something would pop up.

It was as he approached the gardens that he caught sight of someone he had not yet met here. A young blond woman, apparently mundane, and evidently not otherwise occupied. After a moment's consideration, he decided there was no reason not to strike up a conversation. There was always the possibility that any given person who had been here longer than himself might know something about this place that he didn't. And of course, there were always other diversions to be had in such discussions.

He approached her, making no secret of himself, hands folded loosely behind his back. "Pleasant enough morning," he observed, "if one doesn't mind imprisonment terribly much, at any event. I don't believe we've met."
