The sound of the blades swirling were loud, and bits of grass were hitting Amy's legs.  They'd stick, get itchy in a bit.  Make a right mess out of everything.

She didn't care.

There was no familiar police box ( Read more... )

"Do you need a hand with that?" Harry asked, as he came out of the castle and spotted the young woman carrying a suitcase. Given the opportunity Harry wouldn't let women carry anything, pretty much.

Oh. That was... unexpected, to say the least. Still, a helping hand would be appreciated; perhaps she had overpacked, just a bit. "Aye, if you don't mind. Where are we?"

Maybe he'd say something nice. Like Scotland. Or France. Something reasonably close. The helicopter ride seemed like it took ages, and Amy had no idea of the time, let alone the day.

"Also... You wouldn't happen to have a working mobile, would ya? Mine seems to be shot."

Harry took her suitcase and started off back towards the castle. "I'm not quite sure where we are, I'm afraid." He smiled at her to soften the blow. "As far as I can tell we're in England." Although he couldn't be sure about that.

"I never quite got the hang of mobile phones," he admitted. They were a fairy new thing, although appeared to be catching on fast. "Do you have one of these?" He took the one he'd got from the helicopter out of his jacket pocket and showed it to the girl. "You can call anyone in the area with that."

England, well, that was good. That meant that she could be rescued in hours, not days. "That's good. It really, really is."

The phone looked just like that second one, the one that Amy couldn't explain how she got. She slipped it out of her pocket and flipped it open. "I tried calling home with it; it doesn't work either. You mean... we both have the same one? There are more of us? How many are there?"

She wasn't the only one locked up in this place. Great.

"It only works within the castle grounds and I'm not sure anyone would call it home," he said wryly.

He had to think about how many people there were. "People come and go, so I'm not sure how many people there are here. Dozens certainly, but less than a hundred I would say."

He wasn't sure, from her perspective whether that was good or bad. He pressed a few buttons on his phone. "Here, that's my number." He showed the screen to her. "I'm Harry." Since she sounded like she was used to mobile phones, she could probably put the number in there faster than he could.

"I'm Amy," she answered, quickly typing in his number. She found that yes, she had one of her own, and read it off for Harry. "So, just to make things clear: we're stuck in a castle, we can't leave, the mobiles only work with each other, and oh, no one can save us. Is that right?"

She was so, so stupid. Why did she ever, ever follow that stupid note?

He managed to put Amy's number into his phone without too much trouble. "That's about right," he said. "But I'm working on it." Albeit with no results so far.

Oh, how bloody wonderful. This was going to be one large mess, that it was. "So... Harry, at the risk of sounding terribly stupid, there... you wouldn't happen to know if some bloke called the Doctor is here, would you?"

Doubtful. It was just some ruse, Amy was sure of it.

"There is," Harry replied, sounding surprised. Although given the other people he'd come across here who'd also known the Doctor he was sure someone else knowing him ought to stop surprising him by now. "I don't know if he's the same one you knew, though."

Amy froze, stopping halfway up the stairs to the front door. "He's here? You're sure of it?" That would mean the note was right, that all of this was worth it.

"Take me to him!"

Harry shook his head. "I don't know where he is at the moment." And he didn't know the Doctor's number either. He continued up the steps and held the door open for Amy. "How did you know him?"

Oh, how bloody wonderful. He would be the hardest to find man. "We met when I was a child. I was supposed to meet him here. Thanks," Amy added, stepping through the door.

"I'm sure he's around here somewhere," Harry said reassuringly. "If I see him I'll let him know you're looking for him."

"Thanks... but I should go look for him now," Amy said. "It's really rather important, but thank you."

((ooc: amy is in the locked thread, so I have to step out :D ))
