Goliath

Yesterday was probably the coldest it's been here since April. It was nice, although bad timing for Debra and I as yesterday we went to Alex's place for the first time to check out his pool. It was chilly! And his spa wasn't working, although we did sit in it for a while and try to convince ourselves that it was a "little bit" warmer than the main pool. After playing around with Alex's guitar collection and dipping in the pool, the four of us (the fourth person being his friend Ian) played some pool and Alex made us some mircrowaved pancakes before driving us home to welcome Evan and Luke back from work. (Did you even know you could microwave pancakes? I didn't.)

While I was waiting for Luke to get home, Evan stopped by and said he came bearing gifts for us: a paycheck for Luke which he had grabbed from the office for us...and another praying mantis for me! This guy is about twice the size that marvin was and he is UGLY! haha. Marvin was light green with big black compound eyes while the new one (Goliath is his name) is brownish with big RED eyes. He's scary looking. I don't think i'll be taking him out for walks on my arm as often as I did with marvin. Not only is he uglier but he is faster. But on the plus side, he's a much better hunter. He has already killed and eaten both a wood bug and a big reddish flying beetle that I caught him last night. I actually have to go find him some more munchies pretty soon I think.

pictures to come...
