Debra and I headed over to the Synagogue down the street to see the Anne Frank exhibit that we had heard was on display there. Thought it would be a good way to take care of some of our free time. Unfortunately, we were a little late, and being a Wednesday, the place was just starting to fill up for bingo. We thought we'd ask about the exhibit anyway and maybe stay for some bingo. Unfortunately we didn't have $25 each on us for bingo, and we found out that we had just missed the last day for the exhibit.

Once again Debra and I headed over to the Synagogue, this time with the intention of actually playing a little bingo. It's one of those things that I have always thought would be fun to do sometime. Debra is a veteran, as her mom is about 60 and one of those women who is absolutely addicted to it. I bought the basic pack for $25.00 while Debra decided to double her chances on the $35.00 pack. We also bought ourselves new bingo dabbers, and entered a door prize draw. The people there (who were mostly elderly jewish people) were all very friendly and helped us figure out how to pre-dab our sheets.

The bingo-ing began! We didn't win anything. Until game four that is! The bingo was a 9-square block. G55 won it for me. I YELLED out BINGO! I was so excited. A few minutes later I had $100 dollars in my hand. Around this time, a couple of women were going around the room selling 25 and 50 cent instant win tickets. I was thinking of passing, but then she told us about these hold-em tickes we could buy that have both a possible instant win value, and also, if there is a number on them, if someone bingo's on that number, we win $250. So i decided to buy one of those. She also informed me (in a very nice way) that the tradition at this bingo hall is that if you win a bingo, you make a donation to the synagogue. So i handed her $10 to donate from my $100, and she convinced me to instead buy 10 more hold-em tickets. Debra bought some too and between us we had 6 numbers that people could potentially bingo on! We decided then that we would split the jackpot of $250 if either of us won it. Half an hour later, someone bingo'd on I-29...my number!! We had won twice!! we donated $20 of it, split the profit and both left the bingo hall smiling that night. All in all after the food and tickets and everything, i still came out of there with $182.00 profit. Not bad for beginner's luck eh?
Although, on a more serious note, it was just an amazing way that God provided for Luke and I. Luke has been having a really bad week at work, so I wasn't even going to go to Bingo except that I had told Debra last week that i would go with her. So I did go, but decided I would only spend $25, and that way, even if I did lose, I would only lose some of my earnings from the sandwich business (which has also been prospering). But God used the opportunity to pour out much appreciated (and needed) financial blessing:) So I refuse to actually say that it was beginner's luck.
