For Warm Up the Winter and damon_elena.
I chose this episode, particularly the scene between Damon and Elena at the school, because I think it says a lot about how safe Elena feels with Damon, even this early in the series. She is willing to insult him, lecture him, accuse him, yell at him, and even attack him with little-to-no fear. That's pretty amazing since she already knows that he is a vampire with a history of violence, and, thus far, he has not really done anything to make her think that he has a softer side. Yet, for some reason, Elena doesn't seem to think that Damon will retaliate if she pushes him. And she's right, he doesn't.
On top of that, I think this episode marks the first time that Damon is able to do something for Elena that Stefan--because of who Stefan is--cannot do for her. Stefan cannot make Jeremy's memories go away; he cannot help Elena with this. Damon can. I love that.
Also? Nina Dobrev seriously has the prettiest crying eyes I have ever seen.
