my moment of anger

Amazon.co.uk just sent me my version of HP-book 6... children's edition. What the fuck? I ordered the adult's 6 months ago! I reordered it and have labeled the 600 page child's ed version for return. Can amazon get anything correct? it makes me fear for my copy of Constantine.

I didn't realize there was a different edition for children versus adults. What's the difference?

they dumb it down a bit for the kids. What the US gets is the children's addition I believe.

Hmmm...makes me curious to see what the adult version is like. If what I have is the kids version, it could still use some cleaning up ;)

According to several internet sources, it appears the only difference is in the cover art. It's a marketing technique to attract adult readers. That said, I like my book series to match, so I don't blame you for wanting the correct version.

It is true they modify the text some for US audiences...they change some of the slang.

thanks but there are differences between the U.S. and British version that I'm keen to pick up on. Heather and I are reading the opposing versions and going to compare them. Thank you though. BTW, heather and I will be hitting you up about houses once we both have jobs. :) And we promise to at least call before we ditch out of an appointment.

I heard that the differences were just in slang and terminology. Still, sounds like it'll be fun to compare them when you guys are done. :)

And I figured that you guys were both waiting to get jobs before looking to spend money, hence why I stopped bugging you about it. :) And I know you'll call me. As it turns out, I've finally managed to meet up with that woman and show her some properties. I might get a sale out her yet! Here's hoping. *crosses fingers and toes and twists like a pretzel* Wait... this might be to the point of being counter productive...

So have you finished? did you note any differences? I talked to a friend who has been reading the British versions all along and she said that the only difference between them is the slang, and that as the series comes along, that difference is gettting smaller and smaller. There, apparently, was no appreciable difference in this last book. Mayhap some, but very little.

nope. I haven't even started. I'm trying to finish Ender's Shadow before I start Harry Potter. :)
