Wow, yesterday was great. I took the day off from school to go visit Penn with my dad. We basically just went to chill out and walk around, then watch the lacrosse game versus Princeton. We met with the Financial Aid lady, and I'm really happy with my aid package, so that's good. But yeah, yesterday was so much different than I've ever seen Penn. I've never been there while classes are in session, so it was a completely different experience. The food stands were out of control, just like I was told they would be. And they have everything! And I couldn't believe how much of the campus I've actually missed seeing before. Jonathan, we're idiots. When we went there, we walked around in circles forever and never saw Hamilton Walk or the garden/pond area where a lot of the education buildings are. It was really cool. And I ate lunch in the dining hall! It wasn't anything great, and it was kinda steep, but I was happy. And oh man! Hot girls! And normal people! I was really getting nervous that the majority of the kids at Penn were dorky little anti-social Asian kids, but that's not true at all. Of course there's lots of geeky twirps, but it seems like there actually is a bunch of fun people there. And I swear, I saw a few girls that were just drop-dead gorgeous, another thing I feared didn't exist at Penn. And the fraternities seem pretty cool. And the frat houses are really nice - some of them right on Locust Walk, which was also awesome yesterday - so many people and stands and organizations handing me fliers and crap, haha. I got a Jewish organization flier, a minorities organization flier, and a verging-on-homosexual photo flier for Penn Jazz. All things I'm really interested in! Then we walked just off campus and I saw all the off-campus apartments and frat and sorority houses, which were really nice. And I found, not one, but TWO record shops! And a bunch of other really cool places in Hamilton Village. Anyway, my dad and I eventually ended up at Franklin Field to watch lax game. It was an awesome game - Penn was losing the whole game up until the last quarter when they tied it at five. Then after out-playing the Tigers in two sudden-death overtimes, Princeton somehow managed to score and win 6-5. Oh well, both teams suck this year anyway, ha. Then my dad wanted to drive to Penn's landing on the complete other side of Philadelphia. We ended up taking a random street there, and it happened to be South Street, which turns out is the coolest place in all of Philadelphia. It's really artsy and there are so many really cool shops and bars and clubs for basically any kind of person. There was this massive garbage shrine and glass mossaic exhibit, an awesome music club that happened to have Less Than Jake, Allister, and Hidden in Plainview scheduled for that night (I'll be spending a lot of time there), and just about everything imaginable. Good frigging day - now I'm even more excited to go next year! Later!
