Felicia Hardy was not anti-Valentine's Day. It's best just to get that out there before someone makes the assumption that she is some withered up soon-to-be cat lady. Cat lady she might be, but withered? Never.

What she's against is the outlandish celebration of it. Bright colors, candy hearts, singing cupids. Gag her ( Read more... )

"Felicia," Mary Jane greeted, a little surprised, and not just by the other woman's appearance. If asked, she would not have denied that she had been wary of her at first, to the point that she hadn't particularly wanted her around, but now she hadn't the faintest idea why. There was nothing about her not to like - in fact, Mary Jane could think of no one's company she wanted more. "They're, you know, the same. I was just heading back to Pete's -"

But suddenly that didn't seem so important, and she just smiled, shoulders lifting in a shrug. "But he won't mind if I'm gone a while longer, if you want some company."

"I'd love some, actually." Typically Felicia likes to live her life as a one woman show. There are guest actors every now and then, but she's strictly on her own.

But the addition of Red into the production doesn't sound like the worst idea in the world. It actually sounds kind of spectacular. "He's a big boy. Hot Rod will keep him occupied."

"They certainly do make a good pair," Mary Jane commented absently, nodding in agreement, though she bit back the impulse to add that she and Felicia could make a good pair, too. She couldn't quite explain the shift - couldn't explain it at all, in fact - but some part of her wanted to compensate for lost time now. "So we'll give the boys a little time to themselves."

"It's the wisecracks. It brings them together."

It is probably why Felicia was drawn to them. She always did love a man -- or woman -- who was fast on their feet and good with their mouth. Part of her wonders if this Mary Jane is as saucy as her counterpart. God, she hopes so.

"And in the meantime, we can have a grand ole time."

"Yeah?" Mary Jane asked, half-teasing, one eyebrow raised. It was hard not to be pleased at the sound of that, having nearly forgotten where she'd been intending to go in the first place. This was definitely better. "You have anything in mind?"

Felicia has plenty of things in mind, but sharing them with Red doesn't seem like the best place to start. Things like this have to be warmed into otherwise everyone freaks out.

"We could check out the beach? See if someone is up to anything interesting?"

"I could go for a trip to the beach."

The admittance surprised even Mary Jane, and it was likely evident in the look on her face, though there was a smile behind the shock. She could probably have counted the number of minutes she'd spent outside since Peter wound up in the clinic, and going to the beach hadn't even been an option. With Felicia asking, though, there was simply no way she could refuse. "You know I haven't gone to the beach since before it snowed? That was - oh my God, that was before you even showed up."

"Well then, I should definitely be part of the welcoming you back to the sun and surf committee."

The idea feels so natural, that Felicia cannot help but feel a bit confident. The beach is one of the few blissfully boring and worth it places. It paid to not want to stick around. "Spider will be fine if you enjoy yourself."

"Yeah," Mary Jane said, almost a little surprised, as if this were a novel concept that hadn't yet occurred to her. "Yeah, you know, he will."

Smiling, she held out a hand for one of Felicia's, the motion so instinctive she didn't have time to consider any implication in it. "Alright, let's go, then."

Taking Mary Jane's offered hand as if it is the easiest thing in the word Felicia takes a step in the direction of the beach. She is fairly certain this makes her either best sort of girl friend or the worst sort of ex-girlfriend but either way the weather is hot but Red is hotter.

Smirking, she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and knows that it is worth it.

"If all else fails, we can make something up. To do that is."

"Oh?" Mary Jane couldn't help asking, one eyebrow raising slightly, an attempt to hide the way her heart sped up at the very suggestion. It wasn't like Felicia had said anything to imply that they wouldn't just be hanging out on the beach, and she was probably - no, definitely - just being stupid, but the very thought was enough to leave her flustered. "Did you... have anything in mind?"

"Oh, I think I do," Felicia says utilizing the years spent lying through her teeth to cover up anything terribly graphic that she might be thinking of it.

Which means that she is working to cover up a lot. "But it all depends on what you feel up to."

"I'm up for anything," Mary Jane replied quickly, trying not to sound too eager. It meant nothing, of course, she was entirely certain of that, but truth be told, she would have been happy with anything Felicia suggested, she was sure of it. "Really, just name it."

"Ah, something I can work with," Felicia says brightly before giving in to every impulsive tendency that she is currently having. Who cares if it ends up with a slap across the face? It'll be so worth it.

Slowing to a stop, she steps closer to Mary Jane and releases the other woman's hand to cup her face. Without skipping a beat, she kisses her firmly and waits to deal with the consequences.

Though Mary Jane's breath hitched, a clear sign that she was startled, she was leaning into the kiss before she could so much as realize what was happening. She'd had suspicions, of course - more like hopes - but that didn't mean she had actually expected this, and certainly not just yet.

She definitely didn't mind.

A hand resting on Felicia's arm, she let her eyes close, ignoring the fact that they were pretty much in public. There would be plenty of things to worry about later, but for now, she was going to enjoy this.

Felicia isn't above letting a smug smile grace her face as she pulls back. Sure she has spent a long time being the other woman to Red's dear wife but this is an excellent reversal of fortune.

"How was that? Something that you can work with?"
