summary: Yunho gets a job offer to work at Heaven.
Yunho's a rich man's kid. For all his life, he doesn't recall ever having to work, but money seemed to come naturally. At nine, Yunho makes a rather intelligent guess that the money probably came from his practically nonexistent parents. At sixteen, it was confirmed.
So he decides to let loose and live life, since he didn't really had to worry that much about his financial status anyway - his parents were too busy maintaining it than actually giving a damn about him. At eighteen, he books the earliest plane ticket to Japan and decides that he's never coming back.
Yunho embarks on what he calls a journey to enlightenment, which was also just an excuse for him to spend his days travelling around the world. Yunho's a curious person by nature, and rather fickle minded. He never stays at a place for too long, preferring to flit across continents and transverse seas. He enjoys the aftertaste of kimchi, and indulge in moments when the sun rises. He takes a few minutes every day to maintain contact with his best friend - Junsu, and even occasionally drops by Seoul to pay a visit or two. He wonders if this was because he didn't want to lose the only thread of friendship he's had, or the fact that Junsu would probably have his head if he didn't arrive at his doorsteps during Christmas.
Yunho's a little bit of everything and nothing, but most importantly, Yunho's a little different than anyone else. He's realized this when he was seven and confused, staring up at blue skies only to have them shrouded by wisps of white in an instant. Yunho's different. Yunho can generate clouds.
But, Yunho thinks, just because he's different doesn't mean that there would be some things that are out of the ordinary. So when he wakes up one day in the heart of Paris, face to face with a pair of adorably huge eyes that narrowed into a scrutinizing gaze, he believes it's rather normal for him to freak out.
'Oh my god,' Yunho shouts, flipping over his blanket in shock. The mysterious figure doubles over in panic at Yunho's expression, and teeters precariously over the edge of the mattress. Yunho backs away in fear.
'God?' the stranger blinks in confusion. 'Surely you must be mistaken. There isn't any God here-'
'Who are you and what are you doing in my room?' Yunho cuts in frantically, eyes widening in anxiety. He refuses to blush at the utter adorableness of the stranger, with his huge innocent stare and pink tint on his cheeks, and instead concentrates on the fact that a complete stranger like him was able to wriggle his way into Yunho's room.
'Oh me?' APSTCTHOOM says brightly. (Yunho decides to name him APSTCTHOOM for short now. Also known as the Amazingly Perfect Stranger That's Creeping The Hell Out Of Me, but that, Yunho decides, is way too long to narrate in his mind. So he sticks to APSTCHTHOOM instead.)
'I'm an angel, and I've come here to take you to heaven.'
Yunho pales. It takes a full second for APSTCTHOOM's words to sink in before he lets out a legitimate scream.
'Oh my god,' Yunho gestures frantically, clutching tightly onto the crevices of his blanket. 'I'm going to die?'
The angel (Oh yes, Yunho thinks the name suits him perfectly) tinkles with laughter, hands thrown back to cover his mouth, almond hair catching the rays of dawn; tinted with warm orange. Yunho doesn't understand what's so funny. If he's going to die, wouldn't the atmosphere be a little more somber? And he guesses that there should be a lot more blood and no gorgeous stranger on his bedside during his death. He lets go of the blanket and scrutinizes his hands. Nope, no sign of blood yet.
'No, no, no,' the angel says amusedly. 'You're not going to die.'
Yunho sighs in relief.
'Your God wants you there.'
Yunho stops in mid-sigh and blanches. 'You've got to be kidding me.'
'Of course I am,' he says cheerfully. Yunho dreadfully wants to strangle something at this moment. He bunches the blanket together and squeezes it mercilessly, simultaneously clenching his teeth and desperately trying not to look like a deer caught in headlights.
'But seriously,' the angel says. 'You've got a job offer.'
'A wha-' Yunho blinks in disbelief.
'A. Job. Offer' he enunciates carefully. 'Basically you're invited to work at heaven.'
'B-b-but,' Yunho splutters, mind whirring in overdrive, unable to comprehend the sheer incredulity of the situation. He swears that any moment from now, he's going to wake up and see Junsu's horribly annoying grin and find marshmallows stuffed down his shirt like the other time in high school when Junsu managed to stick toothpaste down his-
But anyway.
'Is heaven even real?' Yunho frowns, wondering why he still isn't waking up, pinching himself for good measure.
'Shh,' the angel's serene face suddenly morphs into panic as he hisses furiously, leaning forward and clamping his hands over Yunho's mouth, also giving Yunho a clear sight of his feathery wings. Yunho lets out a little gasp at the sight of the soft flutter of the pale wings. Those wings were definitely as real and authentic as they could get.
'Holy shit', Yunho thinks. 'This is really happening.'
Jaejoong jabs accusingly at Yunho's chest. 'Don't let Changmin hear you say that, he'll have your head.'
Yunho tries to shift his eyes away from the wings. He decides he's better off not knowing who Changmin was.
'So,' Yunho says slowly, letting the brevity of the shocking news settle. 'I get to work in heaven?'
'Yes,' the angel says, almost exasperatedly. 'Now can we go?'
'Go where?' Yunho tilts his head confusedly.
'Why,' the angel beams. 'to Heaven of course.'
And before Yunho had any time to react, he finds a soft tiny hand clutching tightly onto his wrist, and all he notices is the lift off from the ground and then he's floating higher and higher up to the sky, soaring past messy skyscrapers and haphazard birds.
'By the way,' the angel calls out as they float past a solitary cloud. 'You can call me Jaejoong.'
'Yunho,' Yunho manages to respond without sounding afraid, though the erratic beats of his heart proved otherwise.
'I know,' Jaejoong says, laughter reverberating pleasantly in Yunho's ears. 'You'd think we'd hire a person that we can't even put a name to his face?'
Yunho notes that what Jaejoong said was a very good point. He nods agreeably, and decides to just prepare himself for whatever's to come.
