So I'm starting week 2 on site in my new role as Deployment Lead. It’s like mentoring and managing the deployment of clinical trials using electronic data capture software. The work is not unlike my “regular” job except now I’m really a contractor/staff augmentation for the client. And I’m using their methodology not ours. They are similar but not quite the same. That can get a little odd. I’ve also ran across my first interdepartmental conflict - i.e. conflicting marching orders coming for two different managers. Ah well, its bound to happen. Surprised it two 7 business days to happen.
I’ve been assigned 4 trials: 2 HIV trials, a liver fibrosis, and a herpes trial. I feel good about working on the HIV trials. They are on horribly tight timelines but they feel more humanitarian than some of the other trials. The liver fibrosis is going to be miserable. It’s a new indication so the protocol will be amended constantly. The herpes one is well underway. Its also testing an interesting study population.
So, it would be too bad except for the travel. My hotel appears to be Oracle consultant central. The concierge lounge always has the same people there. And both the morning and evening concierge knows everyone’s name. It’s like Cheers meeting the Marriott.
