Diving into Boone

Who: Doctor, Rose, Boone, (open )
Where: Medical facility
When: Day 24 following the meeting and search for Sparrow
Status: Open/incomplete

Against her better judgment, Ami's curiosity, guilt and shame - more of the latter two than the former - carried her into the room where the Doctor would be examining Boone. She froze in the doorway, chewing her lip and watching the tableau before her. Rose gently held onto Boone's hand, looking like a concerned relative.

Ami wondered what Rose would think if she knew that Ami played a part - however forced and unwilling - in Boone being the way he was now.

She didn't say a word. She simply sank down to the floor with her back against the wall and watched.

It was long minutes, but minutes they were. Twelve in total before the Doctor moved back and took his hands away from Boon’s head. He reached up to pinch the bridge of his nose. The boy was sleeping now. Real sleep, without nightmares for at least this sleep cycle ( ... )

Ami accepted the Doctor's aid in rising to her feet. There was truth in his words - her head knew it even if her less rational side wouldn't admit to it. He was a good bloke - when it came right down to it and mattered the most - and at least he could understand in a way that so many other people couldn't.

Her gaze slid past the Doctor's shoulder to Boone and she bit her lip to stop it's trembling. Her words slipped out, a whisper that caught on a sob in her throat, "I don't even know where to start."
