[Isabel] Oh crap nohatmatt November 24 2006, 13:24:35 UTC
Queries over why Daniel had called a meeting evaporated as the archaeologist got straight to the point. Isabel looked around, noting that people looked variously uncomfortable, worried or distressed. A few faces were eager, a feeling Isabel felt a little of herself. After the stories floating around, the hints people gave... the chance to make a move, to gain some ground, was extremely appealing.

"Do you know which way they went?" Isabel asked when nobody else seemed inclined to ask the pertinent question. "Or how long ago this happened?"

She'd met Jack Sparrow and considered him unpredictable and dangerous. Her original assessment was turning out to be accurate. But then, if he really was a pirate from the past, this situation was bound to be even more confusing and disorienting than it was for Isabel. At least most of the fundamental technology here made sense to her, aliens were of course nothing new and she'd grown up with Star Trek in the midst of its revival on television. When Captain Sparrow was from though, they didn't even ( ... )

"Do you know which way they went?" Isabel asked. "Or how long ago this happened?"

"Earlier today," Daniel replied.

Jon gingerly touched a knot on his head. "They headed northwest*. Trail's obvious, at least near the jail."

Locke winced. Jon's wound had to hurt more than he let on. Locke gave Daisy's hand a squeeze. She wouldn't like his suggestion. "Daniel's right. Time's wasting. We need to follow them."

Although Scott didn't like the notion of letting Wilson go, he wasn't about to go tromping through the jungle and possibly into a trap, especially not for that idiot pirate. (No wonder there aren't modern-day pirates. Darwinism in action.) Ami's amusement rippled through him, and Scott hugged her a little closer. "I'm staying here for now," Scott stated. "If anyone is hurt, let me know and I'll come help." Everyone in the room knew about Chris's orbing, and some about Ami or Damon's teleporting.

Scott looked questioningly at Jon. There was no need for the clone young man to be in pain.

Jack was just as glad to have something to do. He was not only juiced, he was on the verge of taking a swing at some of these people. One more idiot gives him a wink and a thumbs up... Flirting and innuendo in public was one thing, even PDA's if his partner was inclined, but you don't go around crowing like a rooster, or you end up a cock. I mean, did these people have no manners or consideration? George was apparently dealing with it, but it obviously bothered her a bit ( ... )

Daisy was appalled to learn that Mengele--Wilson--had escaped. Or been rescued. Or kidnapped, or whatever the hell that stupid pirate thought he was doing. Remaining locked up in the prison facility wasn't nearly punishment enough for what he'd put her through; or Rose, Ami and Claire. But it was a start. The news of his flight squelched the good mood she'd carried over from this morning's conversation with George and Ami.

Daisy shook off her funk and smiled at John when he squeezed her hand. He wasn't going to like her suggestion. "I'm going too. Dr. Meng--Wilson--isn't getting away if I have anything to say about it."

Damon sat quietly, listening to the meeting and the discussion of the annoying pirate. Personally, he didn't really care what happened to Sparrow, and it was true that DHARMA already knew more about them than anyone should, but he knew what Daniel was getting at: no matter what DHARMA knew or didn't know, Sparrow was a security risk now that he was loose and free, and the risk had to be somehow nullified. However, more importantly was the opportunity to possibly hit DHARMA where it hurt, get more information, or low and behold, find a way off of this fucking island. Even if it meant walking into a trap - a trap was only a trap if you didn't know it was a trap - it was a risk worth taking ( ... )

Transportation? Have we got a helicopter he can fly or something? Isabel wondered. Knowing this place it would probably be something weirder than that, but she was sure she'd find out soon enough. It really wasn't worth worrying about right now.

She turned her attention back to Daniel for his response, wondering if she could go, wondering if she really wanted to go, and absentmindedly smoothing a wrinkle out of her sleeve.

Listening to the conversation took more effort than it should. That bump to the head must have done more damage than he realized, because the ache/buzz/fucking annoyance had only gotten worse since he'd entered the bunker. It was doubtful that he'd be the only one to hear a ventilation problem in here, so painkillers were going on Jon's personal kit list right now. Either way he was going on this idiot pirate hunt, hopefully with a moment to say hi to Molly first.

Glossing over Damon's offer to be a psychic packhorse - getting blasé in my old age - Jon decided to bring up another issue before all those willing and able vanished into the forest.

"We're going to need someone else to watch our other jailbirds too - I had to leave them by their lonesomes, because Burn never showed." Speaking of whom.. "Anyone seen her today? Or is Sparrow not the only one playing hide and seek?"

"I'll watch them," Faith declared. "As long as I get somebody to relieve me every now and again, I don't mind." (Who better to watch a coupla jailbirds than a former jailbird, right?)

"Burn's gone AWOL too?" Daniel asked, and Faith sensed a combination of annoyance and worry from the Big Man on Campus. One didn't need to be a telepath to be able to read Daniel's body language, when he wasn't hiding behind his poker face. "This is not what we need. Is anyone else missing?"

"You're thinking defections?" Jon asked.

"Actually, I'm more worried about people playing hero."

Faith looked around, wondering who else might be missing, and followed up with, "Um, speaking of heroics, anybody seen May since breakfast?"

CLOSING THREAD fikgirl December 5 2006, 18:35:21 UTC
Seeing how no one has anything else to add, I'm going to close this one.

Up next will be the Pirate Track and Hunt Thread. I'll get to it as time permits (that doesn't stop anyone else from starting it, though.)
