Going into anothers dreams was trecherous. You could get lost in the other person's altered idea of reality without proper training, a strong sense of self. It was a talent he could only achieve if he was very close with the sleeper, and in physical contact. He'd rarely had the need, and then it was to save a companion he was close to. Dorothy.
Isabel certainly had a talent in this area if she could do it with a picture of her target, and having never even met them. But then, maybe her species all had that talent.
So far he sensed her making a connection. He could feel what she was mentally doing, although he couldn't sense the dream in any way. She was true to her word. So far she was making a connection and interacting in some way but not burrowing any deeper. Not mentally moving beyond the dream.
He kept his eyes closed and continued to monitor.

Whether the time taken to reach the fire was too long or too short Isabel didn't know and wasn't particularly interested in. She'd long ago learned to step over some of the more normal oddities of people's dreams to pay attention to the important details.
The flickering light turned out to be a fire in a clearing in the jungle. Dark shapes loomed around it, hideously distorted humans of differing sizes, towering over Ethan as he burst into the firelight and cowered beneath them as a cascade of hideous voices burst from them, a thousand accusations of failure pouring over Ethan. The figures jostled closer around the fire, Ethan within their ring, pushing him ever closer to the flames.
He stumbled and fell, and Isabel shied away from the inevitable horror - but instead of screaming, Ethan began to laugh as he lay sprawled in the flames, unharmed. The accusing figures vanished like wisps of smoke and Ethan was left alone, his laughter echoing off the trees.
Abruptly he stopped.
"Still here, little girl? Still watching? You're looking for things. Things you don't understand, little girl!" He was standing, looking toward where Isabel lurked outside the firelight. The alien hybrid walked into the light, radiating confidence she was surprised to find that she was actually feeling. This was still her place, her special power.
"We do not know you," Ethan said. He sounded... curious. "How can you be here if we do not know you?"
Isabel walked closer to him.
"I go where I choose to," she said. Ethan shook his head.
"No." He leaned close, so she could feel his breath on her skin. "Now you go where I choose."
The dream started to change, the jungle dissolving. Isabel felt herself pulled along with it. In a moment of panic, she withdrew from it...
...and opened her eyes in her bed, sweaty and gasping for breath.

"He figured out what I was doing. Nearly took control of the dream with me in it! Ethan's dangerous, Doctor. Dangerous like nobody I've encountered before."
She paused a moment, feeling again that sickening twisting of the dream as he'd started to wrench away her control of her dream-self. How could he do that? How could anyone do that?
"I didn't even know what he just tried was possible. I'm... I'm not sure about the others now. Should I try them? What if they can do the same thing?"
